Position Summary
The Challenger 605 Captain serves as the Pilot in Command, reporting directly to the Lead Captain. This pivotal role is responsible for the safe, secure, and efficient conduct of all assigned flights, exercising ultimate authority for flight safety and operational compliance. The Captain ensures adherence to all federal, local, and company regulations and policies, embodying Jet Aviation's unwavering commitment to excellence and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as Pilot in Command for all assigned Challenger 605 flights, holding final authority for safe operation.
- Determine optimal departure times, routes, and make critical decisions regarding flight cancellations based on weather or other conditions.
- Ensure strict compliance with all federal, local, and company aviation regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Implement necessary in-flight adjustments to maintain safe operations in accordance with company guidelines.
- Complete all required trip paperwork accurately and promptly.
- Foster a thorough and complete understanding with the Second in Command on all flight aspects.
- Accurately record and report all aircraft discrepancies to the Director of Maintenance or designee, ensuring compliance with the Approved Minimum Equipment List (MEL).
- Verify the flight crew's fitness for duty and adherence to proper attire standards.
- Maintain expert knowledge of all Challenger 605 aircraft systems, including emergency procedures.
- Secure the aircraft post-flight, arranging hangar storage as necessary or instructed.
- Obtain and analyze current weather reports, forecasts, NOTAMs, and navigational charts.
- File flight plans with appropriate ATC facilities (FAA or ICAO).
- Perform duties as the In-flight Security Coordinator (ISC) in accordance with applicable security programs.
- Conduct or delegate passenger safety briefings.
- Mentor and impart knowledge to the Second in Command, preparing them for potential PIC duties or upgrades.
- Ensure timely completion and submission of leg manifests and End of Day (EOD) reports to operations control.
- Actively support a culture of safety, reporting all safety hazards, concerns, and any hazardous events immediately to the Chief Pilot and Director of Safety.
- Represent Jet Aviation professionally, both internally and externally, with industry groups, regulatory bodies, and the General Dynamics network.
Minimum Requirements
- Possess an Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Certificate with a Challenger 605 Type Rating.
- Maintain a current FAA First Class Medical Certificate.
- A minimum of 3,500 hours total fixed-wing flight time.
- At least 1,500 hours multi-engine land flight time.
- A minimum of 1,500 hours Pilot-in-Command (PIC) flight time.
- At least 1,500 hours turbojet flight time.
- A minimum of 500 hours turbine time.
- At least 100 hours night flight time.
- A minimum of 75 hours actual or simulated instrument time.
- A minimum of 5 years of professional aviation experience.
- Ability and willingness to work flexible schedules.
- Unrestricted ability to travel extensively worldwide.
- Possess a valid driver's license.

Work Environment & Physical Demands
The role involves varying physical demands, including frequent standing, walking, sitting, and occasional climbing or balancing. It requires the ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally. Specific vision capabilities (close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment) are essential for successful performance. The work environment encompasses both heavy maintenance areas and upscale customer facilities, with noise levels ranging from moderate to loud. Exposure to vibration, occasional fuel fumes, and diverse weather conditions is expected, alongside potential temperature extremes in hangar environments.
