Position: First Officer (Cessna 402) – Cape Air
Leadership in Flight Training (LIFT) Academy and Cape Air have established a strategic workforce development partnership to provide a pathway for aspiring aviators. This flow program allows LIFT Academy graduates to transition into First Officer roles at Cape Air, building professional flight experience before moving to Republic Airways. Cape Air operates passenger flights across the Midwest, Montana, the Caribbean, and the Northeast.
Primary Responsibilities

Report administratively to the Chief Pilot of the Cessna 402 and functionally to the Pilot in Command (PIC) during assigned flights.

Participate in training for upgrade to Cargo/Freight/Charter PIC, utilizing mentorship and instruction provided by the PIC.

Accept delegated duties from the PIC as knowledge and proficiency increase.

Conduct flight operations with a focus on safety and professionalism, maintaining strict vigilance and avoiding unnecessary distractions.

Assume all duties and responsibilities of command in the event of PIC incapacitation, including notifying the System Operations Center (SOC) of intentions and conducting the flight to a safe landing.

Maintain thorough knowledge of company manuals, FAA Regulations, Operations Specifications, and flight manuals.

Ensure strict compliance with FAR 135.265.

Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Successful completion of a training record review.

Must possess a current FAA commercial multi-engine license with instrument rating.

Must possess a current FAA first-class medical certificate.

Total flight time: 500 hours (1,000 hours preferred).

Cross-country (point-to-point) time: 100 hours.

Night flight time: 25 hours.

Instrument flight time: 25 hours.

Multi-engine flight time: 25 hours (preferred).

Bachelor’s degree (preferred).

Graduate of an AABI-accredited aviation program (preferred).
