Position Title: First Officer - Cape Air Flow Program
Program Overview:
Through a strategic workforce development partnership between Leadership in Flight Training (LIFT) Academy and Cape Air, this flow program provides a pathway for qualified aviators to operate passenger flights across Cape Air’s four operational regions: the Midwest, Montana, the Caribbean, and the Northeast. Upon completion of flight training at LIFT Academy, graduates will transition into the First Officer role at Cape Air, building flight experience before flowing to Republic Airways.
Primary Responsibilities

Report administratively to the Chief Pilot Cessna 402 and functionally to the Pilot in Command (PIC).

Participate in training for potential upgrade to Cargo/Freight/Charter PIC status, utilizing instruction and experience provided by the PIC.

Execute flight operations in a safe and professional manner, maintaining full vigilance during all phases of flight and avoiding distractions.

Assume command responsibilities in the event of PIC incapacitation, including notifying the System Operations Control (SOC) and conducting the flight to a safe landing point.

Maintain expert knowledge of the company manual, FAA Regulations, Operations Specifications, and relevant flight manuals.

Ensure strict compliance with FAR 135.265.

Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Successful completion of a training record review.

Current FAA commercial multi-engine license with instrument rating.

Current FAA first-class medical certificate.

Minimum flight hour requirements:

Total time: 500 hours (1,000 hours preferred)

Cross-country (point-to-point): 100 hours

Night flight: 25 hours

Instrument: 25 hours

Multi-Engine: 25 hours preferred

Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Graduate of an AABI accredited aviation program preferred.
Eligibility
LIFT Academy students are eligible to apply for the Cape Air First Officer position upon enrollment at LIFT Academy.
