Senior Captain (Flight Operations)

Position Summary

Reporting to the Director of Flight Operations, the Senior Captain serves as the Pilot in Command (PIC) with final authority and responsibility for the safe operation of the aircraft. The incumbent ensures the safety and security of all crew members, passengers, and cargo while adhering to Federal Aviation Regulations, company policies, and established flight department procedures. The Senior Captain is expected to maintain the highest standards of safety, professionalism, and operational efficiency while supporting company objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safety-first culture and implement efficient procedures to support customer service and operational goals.
  • Direct flight crew activities and ensure a comprehensive understanding of all assigned duties.
  • Verify aircraft airworthiness and ensure all required documentation is present.
  • Exercise final authority regarding flight commencement, delays, cancellations, or deviations.
  • Conduct briefings concerning flight purpose, weather conditions, operating procedures, and specific instructions.
  • Perform pre-flight aircraft inspections and verify compliance with weight, balance, and fuel regulations.
  • Supervise the preparation of flight plans, factoring in terrain, weather, navigational aids, and performance data.
  • Report all potential FAA violations or safety concerns to the Flight Department Manager or Chief Pilot.
  • Ensure passengers receive appropriate briefings for all phases of flight and that all cargo is properly secured.
  • Complete all company-required flight logs and tracking documentation.
  • Communicate maintenance discrepancies to personnel and monitor the current status of the aircraft.
  • Operate company, personal, or rental vehicles to conduct business as required.

Required Qualifications

  • Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Certification with Airplane, Multiengine Land Rating.
  • First Class Medical Certificate.
  • Restricted Radiotelephone Operators Permit (FCC).
  • Valid State Driver’s License.
  • Minimum of 5,000 hours total pilot flight time and 2,500 hours of multiengine turbine time.
  • Proven experience in aircraft requiring two pilots (Crew Concept).
  • Ability to successfully complete a type rating course for current company aircraft.
  • Excellent Crew Resource Management (CRM) skills and subject-matter expertise.
  • Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Proficiency in written and oral English.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds overhead.
  • Availability to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Experience operating large-cabin aircraft.
  • Zero FAA accidents, incidents, or violations.
  • First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications.
