Horizon Air, a distinguished regional carrier for Alaska Airlines, is seeking motivated individuals for its Pilot Development Program. This unique program offers aspiring pilots a defined pathway to a First Officer (FO) position, with comprehensive training and mentorship, operating throughout the scenic Western United States from various bases including SeaTac, WA, Boise, ID, Las Vegas, NV, Anchorage, AK, Spokane, WA, Everett, WA, and Portland, OR.

About the Role

The Pilot Development Program is meticulously designed for aspiring aviators keen to build a long-term career with Horizon Air. As a pilot within this program, individuals will gain invaluable experience and prepare for a First Officer role, flying regional operations across the West with advanced avionics. The program emphasizes professional development, mentorship, and provides a clear trajectory towards a mainline career with Alaska Airlines. Participants commit to a minimum two-year service agreement with Horizon Air upon achieving Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) minimums. Key responsibilities for program participants include:

  • Attend program-specific meetings as scheduled.
  • Participate in scheduled check-in meetings with the program director every six months.
  • Complete and submit monthly surveys of flight hours.

Requirements

Successful candidates for the Pilot Development Program, leading to a First Officer (FO) position, must demonstrate a strong commitment to aviation safety and operational excellence. Applicants are required to possess the following qualifications and meet the specified criteria:

  • An active Private Pilot License (PPL).
  • A valid, unexpired FAA First Class Medical Certificate.
  • A valid FCC Restricted Radiotelephone Operator Permit.
  • A valid US driver's license.
  • The ability to provide accurate and complete flight records, including personal logbooks.
  • Successful completion of the Pilot Development Program in accordance with established guidelines is essential for progression to a Horizon Air First Officer position.
  • Minimum age of 18 years old.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent qualification.
  • Authorization to work in the U.S.
  • Possession and maintenance of a valid passport allowing unrestricted travel to and from the U.S., without requiring a Temporary Resident Permit.
