Horizon Air seeks an experienced First Officer to join its flight operations team in Portland, Oregon, and other West Coast locations. This union-represented role is crucial for ensuring the safety and positive experience of all passengers during flights across the western United States.
About the Role
The First Officer Experienced serves as Second in Command, responsible for the safe and professional execution of all flight duties. This includes pre-flight checks, conducting safe flights, post-flight duties, and coordinating operational tasks such as fueling and passenger handling. Pilots are expected to adhere to all Federal Aviation Regulations (FAA), company flight procedures, and policies. A key aspect of the role involves strong teamwork within the flight deck and with other operational departments, alongside maintaining a professional image and demeanor as a company representative.
Requirements

200 hours of FAA-approved Prior Qualifying Time for Part 121 operations, or equivalent experience as specified in FAR § 121.436(a)(3) and related sections (including options for SIC at a Part 121 carrier, PIC at Part 91 or Part 135 carriers with specific aircraft and operational criteria, or military flight time).

A minimum of 1,465 hours of total flight time, or be R-ATP qualified.

500 hours of cross-country flight time (or 200 hours if R-ATP or military qualified).

100 hours of night flight time.

250 total hours of flight time as pilot in command, including 100 hours of cross-country and 25 hours of night flight time.

75 hours of instrument flight time.

25 hours of multi-engine flight time.

FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate with multi-engine and instrument ratings.

A current First-Class FAA Medical Certificate.

FCC permit restricted radiotelephone operator.

A valid passport allowing unrestricted travel to and from the U.S.

A valid Driver’s License.

Excellent judgment, leadership skills, demonstrated command ability, and maturity.

Willingness to accept base assignments in Seattle, WA; Portland, OR; Spokane, WA; Boise, ID; Medford, OR; Anchorage, AK; or Everett, WA, based on company need.

Willingness to work multiple days away from home on a varied schedule, including weekends and holidays.

Qualifications (Preferred)
