First Officer Experienced - Horizon Air

Role Summary

The First Officer is responsible for ensuring a safe, professional, and positive flight experience for all Horizon Air guests. This is a union-represented, exempt position focused on maintaining the highest standards of safety and regulatory compliance.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serve as Second in Command during the transport of passengers, mail, and freight.
  • Manage all aspects of flight conduct, including preflight paperwork, safe flight operations, and post-flight duties.
  • Ensure strict compliance with Federal Aviation Regulations (FAA), Company Flight Procedures, and internal policies.
  • Coordinate operational tasks, including fueling, loading, and passenger handling, in accordance with the Flight Operations Manual (FOM) and applicable federal regulations.
  • Demonstrate advanced Cockpit Resource Management (CRM) and maintain a professional image and demeanor as a company representative.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum age of 21 years with a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Current FAA First-Class Medical Certificate.
  • FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate with multi-engine and instrument ratings.
  • FCC Restricted Radiotelephone Operator Permit.
  • 200 hours of FAA-approved Prior Qualifying Time (per FAR § 121.436(a)(3)), verified via logbooks.
  • Minimum of 1,465 hours total flight time or R-ATP qualification.
  • 500 hours of cross-country flight time (or 200 if R-ATP or military qualified).
  • 100 hours of night flight time.
  • 250 total hours as Pilot in Command (including 100 hours cross-country and 25 hours night flight).
  • 75 hours of instrument flight time and 25 hours of multi-engine flight time.
  • Must possess a valid passport allowing unrestricted travel to and from the U.S.
  • Must possess a valid Driver’s License and be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Demonstrated leadership, judgment, and command ability.
  • Willingness to work a varied schedule, including weekends and holidays, and accept base assignments in Seattle, WA; Portland, OR; Spokane, WA; Boise, ID; Medford, OR; Anchorage, AK; or Everett, WA.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 100 hours of multi-engine flight time.
  • 100 hours of flight time within the last 12 months.
  • Four-year degree from an accredited university.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary: First-year pay rate of $92.72.
  • Pay Guarantees: 75 credit hours for jet operations; 73 credit hours for reserve.
  • Longevity Match: No-cap longevity match for pilots with prior Part 121 experience, contingent upon specific bid preferences.

Regulatory and Security Requirements

Employees must obtain and maintain a SIDA badge provided by the airport authority. Failure to qualify for or maintain this badge will result in termination.
