Role Summary

Horizon Air is seeking an Experienced First Officer to join its premier regional airline team. This union-represented position is responsible for ensuring the safe transport of guests while maintaining the highest levels of professionalism. Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serve as Second in Command (SIC) for the transport of passengers, mail, and freight.
  • Manage all flight-related conduct, including preflight paperwork, safety restrictions, and post-flight duties.
  • Ensure strict compliance with Federal Aviation Regulations (FAA), company flight procedures, and safety policies.
  • Coordinate with various departments to facilitate fueling, loading, and passenger handling in accordance with FOM, FARs, and CRFs.
  • Demonstrate effective Cockpit Resource Management (CRM) as a collaborative team member.
  • Maintain professional grooming standards and a demeanor that represents the company positively to all internal and external customers.
  • Uphold company values by owning safety, doing the right thing, and delivering high performance.

Required Qualifications

  • Age and Education: Minimum age of 21 years; High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Flight Time: Minimum of 1,465 hours of total flight time (or R-ATP qualified).
  • Prior Qualifying Time: 200 hours of FAA-approved time to serve as pilot in command in Part 121 operations, which may include:
    • 200 hours as SIC at a Part 121 carrier; or
    • 200 hours as PIC at a Part 91 carrier in multi-engine turbine-powered aircraft with an ATP license and type rating; or
    • 200 hours as PIC at a Part 135 carrier in passenger operations with specific seat configurations; or
    • 200 hours of military flight time as PIC of a multi-engine turbine-powered aircraft in multi-pilot operations.
  • Specific Flight Experience:
    • 500 hours of cross-country flight time (200 hours if R-ATP or military qualified).
    • 100 hours of night flight time.
    • 250 total hours as PIC, including 100 hours cross-country and 25 hours night flight.
    • 75 hours of instrument flight time (actual or simulated).
    • 25 hours of multi-engine flight time.
  • Certification: FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate with multi-engine and instrument ratings.
  • Medical: Current First-Class FAA Medical Certificate.
  • Licensing: FCC Restricted Radiotelephone Operator Permit and a valid Driver’s License.
  • Travel: Valid passport allowing unrestricted travel to and from the United States.
  • Authorization: Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Language: Ability to communicate fluently in English.

Job Requirements

  • Excellent judgment, leadership skills, and demonstrated command ability.
  • Willingness to accept base assignments based on company need.
  • Flexibility to work a varied schedule, including weekends, holidays, and multiple days away from home.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an Airport SIDA badge.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 100 hours of multi-engine flight time.
  • 100 hours flown within the last 12 months.
  • Four-year degree from an accredited university.

Compensation and Benefits

  • First Year Pay Rate: $92.72 per hour.
  • Guaranteed Pay: 75 credit hours for jet operations; 73 credit hours for reserve.
  • Longevity Credit: Year-for-year longevity pay match for prior Part 121 experience (subject to bidding requirements).
