Second in Command (SIC) - Aviation Operations
Job Summary
The Second in Command (SIC) plays a pivotal role in the safe and efficient execution of flight operations for the transport of passengers, mail, freight, or other commercial aviation purposes. This position requires a highly skilled and dedicated professional who assumes comprehensive responsibility for all aspects of flight conduct. This includes diligent pre-flight preparation, meticulous review of required paperwork and restrictions, the flawless execution of safe flight, and thorough completion of all post-flight duties. The SIC is expected to consistently uphold the highest standards of safety, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Serves as Second in Command, actively participating in the operation of aircraft for the transportation of passengers, mail, freight, or various other commercial aviation objectives.
- Assumes primary responsibility for all facets of flight operations, encompassing meticulous pre-flight preparations, including the thorough review of all required paperwork and adherence to operational restrictions.
- Ensures the safe and efficient conduct of flight in strict accordance with established procedures, company policies, and industry best practices.
- Completes all necessary post-flight duties accurately and promptly, contributing to seamless operational flow.
- Maintains rigorous compliance with all Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs), company flight procedures, and internal company policies across all scheduled flights and routes to guarantee the utmost safety and integrity of flight operations.
Minimum Experience Requirements
Candidates for the Second in Command position must meet the following minimum flight experience criteria:
- Total Flight Time: A minimum of 1,465 hours, or possess R-ATP (Restricted Airline Transport Pilot) qualification.
- Cross-Country Flight Time: 500 hours, or 200 hours if R-ATP or military qualified.
- Night Flight Time: 100 hours.
- Pilot in Command (PIC) Time: 250 total hours of flight time as pilot in command, which must include:
- 100 hours of cross-country flight time.
- 25 hours of night flight time.
- Multi-Engine Land Time: A minimum of 25 hours.
