About the Role

The Pilot Development Program is meticulously designed for pilot students aiming for a professional career with Horizon Air. Participants will engage in a robust curriculum, benefit from dedicated mentorship, and follow a clear progression toward a First Officer position. As a pilot for Horizon Air, candidates will navigate some of the most scenic routes across the Western United States, utilizing advanced avionics and contributing to a highly skilled and close-knit flight operations team renowned for its strong company culture.

Upon successful completion of the program and achieving ATP minimums, pilots are expected to commit to a minimum two-year service agreement with Horizon Air. Key responsibilities within the program include:

  • Attending scheduled program-specific meetings.
  • Participating in bi-annual check-in meetings with the program director.
  • Completing monthly surveys detailing flight hours.

Qualifications

Candidates for the Pilot Development Program must demonstrate a strong commitment to aviation and meet the following essential requirements:

  • Possession of an active Private Pilot License.
  • Holding a valid and unexpired FAA First Class Medical Certificate.
  • Holding a valid FCC Restricted Radiotelephone Operator Permit.
  • Possession of a valid US driver's license.
  • Ability to provide accurate and verifiable flight records, including logbooks.
  • Successful completion of the Pilot Development Program in accordance with established guidelines (a prerequisite for the Horizon Air First Officer position).
  • Minimum age of 18 years old.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Authorization to work in the U.S.
  • Possession and maintenance of a valid passport allowing unrestricted travel, without a Temporary Resident Permit, to and from the U.S.
