The Role:

Hillsboro Aviation’s contract and charter division seeks a skilled and motivated B407/AS350 Utility Pilot to join its team. The individual will work closely with the Contract & Charter: R/W team, organizing and managing the daily requirements of assigned contracts. Reporting directly to the Chief Pilot, this position requires a high degree of professionalism, adherence to operational standards, and a commitment to client satisfaction. The division provides crucial services to organizations including the United States Forest Service (USFS), the Department of Interior (DOI), FEMA, major national utilities (powerline and infrastructure), high-tech companies, and numerous other clients. Missions are diverse, encompassing search and rescue, short-haul (human external cargo), natural disaster relief, construction support, aerial firefighting, natural resource surveys, film/photo/news operations, and heli-skiing. The fleet includes Airbus H145D3, Bell 205 A-1++, Bell 407, Bell 407HP, and Airbus AS350B3e aircraft.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Organize and manage daily contractual requirements.
  • Conduct thorough mission preparation and execution.
  • Provide accurate and timely operational reporting.
  • Represent Hillsboro Aviation with professionalism and integrity.
  • Interact with clients in a courteous and respectful manner.
  • Provide services to a variety of clients, including USFS, DOI, DOD, FEMA, national utilities, high-tech companies, and private individuals.
  • Execute diverse missions such as Search and Rescue, Short Haul (Human External Cargo), Natural Disaster Relief, Construction Support, Firefighting, Natural Resource Surveys, Film/Photo/News flights, and Heli-skiing.

The ideal candidate is a highly engaging, energetic, and driven individual, capable of working independently under limited supervision. They possess a strong work ethic, an optimistic attitude, and a meticulous eye for detail and organization. This individual will be excited to represent Hillsboro Aviation to key customers, which may include foreign governments, community leaders, and business partners.

Qualifications/Licenses:

  • Commercial (COM) or Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate with Rotorcraft Helicopter Rating.
  • Current Medical Class 1 or 2 certificate.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Valid Passport (required for operations crossing into Canada or relocations to Alaska).
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States.

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Compliance with all FAR Part 135 requirements.
  • Minimum of 1500 hours Pilot-in-Command (PIC) helicopter time.
  • Minimum of 50 hours PIC time in the specific make/model of aircraft.
  • Minimum of 100 hours PIC helicopter time in the past 12 months.
  • Minimum of 200 hours mountain flying experience.

Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • Prior experience in vertical reference (longline) operations.
  • Firefighting and/or utility aviation experience.
  • Current interagency card.
  • Power System Development (PSD) and/or Torch qualification.
  • Experience in other Hillsboro Aviation operated helicopter models.
  • Instrument rating.
  • Restricted radio station license.
  • Experience with deep-snow landing and cold weather operations.
