The Chief Flight Instructor (CFI) is appointed by the Nominated Person Training (TNG). He reports to the Nominated Person Training (TNG). The Chief Flight Instructor (CFI) is superior to the helvetic Synthetic Flight Instructors (SFI), the Type Rating Instructors (TRI), EBT Instructor (EBT-I) and the Line Training Commanders (LTC) for all training related issues.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Chief Flight Instructor (CFI) is responsible for:

supervising the safe and effective execution of flight and simulator training
-
supervising flight and flight simulation training instructors and the standardization of all flight instruction and flight simulation instruction
-
assuring that all instructors meet the qualification requirements for their activities, and monitors the validity of their licenses, ratings and medicals
-
organizing in close cooperation with the Training Planner (TRP) the initial, recurrent and standardization training of Synthetic Flight Instructors (SFI), Type Rating Instructors (TRI), EBT Instructors (EBT-I) and Line Training Commanders (LTC)
-
supervising the save and effective execution of flight and simulator training
-
supervising flight and flight simulation training instructors and the standardization of all flight instruction and flight simulation instruction

quantity of instructors (SFI, TRI, EBT-I, LTC):
-
o assuring to cover the training required plus a reserve of 25 %
-
o initializing of instructors selection process if need arises
-
developing and implementing instructor training and refresher programs
-
analyzing the teaching capabilities and competence of the instructors to ensure and improve the knowledge transfer during training activities
-
personal training files flight crew: continuous processing, storing and filling after any kind of practical training
-
recording and analyzing any occurrences and deviations from the standards and ensures corrective and preventive action within the organization
-
promoting corporate culture of safety and compliance
-
managing and planning continuous education and career development of his subordinates
-
supervising the planning of flight simulation training and reserving/cancelling of simulator slots by the Training Planner (TRP)

electronic expiry list: update of expiries after confirmed trainings (according to PMOD)
-
feedbacks of practical courses: summary in cycles of six months to be presented to the Nominated Person Training (TNG)
-
EBT performance analysis: summary of six months to be presented to the Nominated Person Training (TNG)
-
grading data analysis for concordance monitoring (ICAP)
-
department inspections of simulators and therefore yearly summary of reliability
Requirements
Facts:
-
holds an Airline Transport Pilot’s Licence (ATPL) issued or validated by an EASA member state
-
holds a type rating related to the flying training courses he is appointed to conduct
-
holds a Type Rating Instructor (TRI) rating for the aeroplanes used on these courses
-
1000 hours of flight time as pilot-in-command (PiC), of which at least 500 should be on flying instructional duties related to the flying courses provided, whereof 200 hours may be instrument ground time
-
age at least 25, maximum 65 years

fulfil legal requirements according to Part-ORA

knowledge of the helvetic’s training concept for flight crew

English: common language at least ICAO level 4
