Role Summary

The First Officer is paramount in ensuring the safety of every journey and fostering a positive guest experience. This union-represented position demands a consistently high level of professionalism and a commitment to operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as Second in Command for the transportation of passengers, mail, and freight for commercial purposes.
  • Adhere strictly to Federal Aviation Regulations, Company Flight Procedures, and Company Policies on all scheduled flights to guarantee flight safety.
  • Maintain a professional business demeanor and conduct at all times.
  • Operate company aircraft in accordance with established Qualification Standards, Flight Manual procedures, and all applicable policies.
  • Communicate effectively with all required agencies and personnel, adhering to Company Communication Practices.
  • Possess knowledge commensurate with an Airline Transport Pilot certificate holder, including a thorough understanding of applicable Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) and the Aeronautical Information Manual (AIM).

Qualifications and Experience

Alaska Seniority List Requirements:

  • Minimum of 1,500 hours of total documented flight time.
  • Current First Class FAA Medical Certificate.
  • Minimum of 500 hours of fixed-wing turbine time (combining airplane and powered lift).
  • Possess a current passport with unrestricted access to and from the United States, with at least six months of validity remaining at the time of employment. Non-U.S. passport holders must also provide appropriate travel documentation.
  • Ability to travel immediately and repeatedly to domestic and international destinations served by Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines.
  • FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate with Instrument-Airplane rating.
  • Meet all aeronautical experience requirements for an Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate with an Airplane category rating, as specified in 14 CFR §61.159.
  • Current ATP written exam completion.
  • Proficiency in written and verbal English communication.
  • A valid Driver’s License issued by a U.S. state or U.S. territory.
  • Willingness to accept domicile assignments in Seattle, WA; Los Angeles, CA; Anchorage, AK; Portland, OR; or San Francisco, CA.
  • Demonstrated excellent judgment, leadership skills, commandability, and maturity.
  • Professional demeanor and appearance.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment in decision-making.
  • Capacity to maintain composure under pressure.
  • Minimum age of 23 years.
  • Authorized to work in the U.S.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Four-year degree from an accredited university.
  • FAA Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate.
  • 500 hours of multi-engine airplane time.
  • Minimum of 50 hours of flight time within the last 12 months.
  • 500 hours of turbine Pilot-in-Command (PIC) time.
  • Experience in turbojet/turboprop aircraft within a complex flying environment.

Hawaiian Airlines Seniority List Requirements:

  • Minimum age of 23 years.

Compensation and Benefits

Alaska Seniority List Pay Details:

  • First-year pay rate: $124.72 per hour (as per contract).
  • Monthly pay guarantee: 70 hours.
  • Reserve pay guarantee: 75 hours (long call); 84 hours (short call).

Hawaiian Airlines Seniority List Pay Details:

  • First-year pay rate: $87.00 per hour (as per contract).
  • Monthly pay guarantee: 75 hours.
  • Reserve pay guarantee: 75 hours (long call); 75 hours (short call).

Total Rewards:
