Assistant Director of Operations

Overview

The Assistant Director of Operations (ADO) provides critical support in overseeing the functions of 121 Operations. In the absence of the Director of Operations, the ADO assists the Director of OCC or the Chief Pilot as required to ensure operational continuity.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Assist the Director of Operations in the safe, compliant, and efficient management of all flight operations conducted under 14 CFR Part 121 and company regulations.
  • Ensure prompt reporting, filing, and follow-up action on accidents and other required reports to relevant FAA agencies.
  • Monitor operational trends to proactively identify compliance risks or process gaps requiring corrective action.
  • Support FAA audits, inspections, certificate management activities, and regulatory correspondence.
  • Assist in the development, revision, implementation, and oversight of operational manuals, procedures, and programs.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Safety to monitor and coordinate flight operations safety audits, ensuring findings are corrected and closed in a timely manner.
  • Understand and actively participate in the Global X Airlines Safety Management System, reporting hazards and safety issues to supervisors.
  • Support hiring, training, performance management, and professional development initiatives within operational departments.
  • Serve as a delegated operational leader during irregular operations (IROPs), AOG events, weather disruptions, diversions, and recovery efforts.
  • Assist with long-term operational planning, including fleet growth, route expansion, staffing models, and operational scalability.
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational reliability, on-time performance, resource utilization, and customer experience.
  • Lead special operational initiatives and provide vendor management and operational contract oversight as assigned.
  • Promote and reinforce a proactive safety culture throughout flight operations.

Skills and Qualifications

  • FAA-issued Airline Transport Pilot license (never suspended or revoked).
  • Minimum of three years of 121 Pilot-in-Command (PIC) experience.
  • Proficiency in writing procedures in compliance with Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) and researching FAA DRS 8900.1, Advisory Circulars (AC), and other FAA/DOT documents.
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations.
  • Flexibility to work variable shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership, and team development skills.
  • Proven ability to perform effectively in high-pressure environments, managing cross-functional coordination and irregular operations.

Work Schedule and Requirements

The ADO primary schedule is Monday through Friday. Responsibilities include serving as Duty Officer for a seven-day period once per month. To maintain currency and qualification, the ADO must perform line or training audits equivalent to 16 hours and/or a minimum of three segments with three landings per month.
