First Officer (SIC) - Citation XLS
George J. Priester Aviation, a respected leader in the Part 135 charter industry, seeks a qualified and dedicated First Officer (Second in Command) to support the safe and efficient operation of its Citation XLS aircraft. The First Officer will work collaboratively with the Pilot in Command (PIC) in all flight duties, ensuring compliance with company policies, Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs), and industry best practices. This position requires a commitment to safety, professionalism, and exceptional customer service, contributing to a seamless and enjoyable flight experience for passengers. This position is based at KPWK and involves approximately 240-270 hours per year on a Part 135 aircraft.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assists the PIC in all phases of flight operations, including weather analysis, route planning, aircraft performance calculations, and pre-flight inspections. Ensures adherence to all applicable regulations, standard operating procedures, and the company’s Flight Operations Manual.
- Monitors aircraft instrumentation and systems during all phases of flight. Operates navigational and communication radios as directed by the PIC, obtaining clearances and relaying instructions.
- Maintains a high level of crew coordination and communication, providing constructive feedback to the PIC and other crew members to ensure safe and efficient flight operations. Actively participates in the company’s Safety Management System (SMS) to identify and mitigate potential risks.
- Assists in conducting thorough pre-flight inspections and ensures the aircraft is clean, well-stocked, and prepared for flight. Verifies that all necessary manuals, charts, and passenger-specific items (e.g., catering) are onboard prior to departure. Supports post-flight procedures and documentation.
- Remains vigilant for any abnormal situations or deviations from standard procedures. In the event of PIC inattention or incapacitation, assumes control of the aircraft to prevent hazards. Actively participates in safety audits, corrective action plans, and preventative measures.
- Assists in delivering exceptional customer service to passengers, prioritizing their comfort and safety throughout the flight. Supports the PIC in addressing passenger needs and ensuring a high-quality flight experience.
Required and Preferred Qualifications:

Experience:
- 1000-2500 total flight hours, with a minimum of 100 hours in multi-engine, fixed-wing aircraft.
- Turbine experience is highly preferred.

Certifications:
- Commercial Pilot Certificate with multi-engine instrument rating or higher is required.
- Current First-Class Medical Certificate is required.

- Comprehensive understanding of FAA regulations and flight operations procedures.
- Exceptional communication and decision-making skills, demonstrating the ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
- Proficiency in Crew Resource Management (CRM) principles and flight management systems.

Other Requirements:
- Must be available to report to the departure airport within 60 minutes for charter flight assignments.
- Ability to lift, push, or pull over 50 pounds when handling baggage and equipment.
- Must possess a valid passport and be willing to travel for extended periods as required by the flight schedule.
This is an exempt position that requires flexibility to meet the operational demands of the business.
