UAV Pilot and Instructor - Flex-Deployable Capacity
General Atomics Systems Integration, LLC (GA-SI), an affiliate of General Atomics, seeks a highly skilled and experienced UAV Pilot and Instructor to join its Aero Services Team in a flex-deployable capacity. This role combines the responsibilities of a UAV Pilot and Instructor, providing a unique opportunity for a dynamic and motivated individual to contribute to the advancement of unmanned aerial systems.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee and actively participate in ground and flight operations, encompassing mission planning, execution, briefing, debriefing, aircrew resource management, and safety.
- Remotely pilot UAVs during engineering tests and flight test/demonstration support, ensuring compliance with specifications and operational suitability through prescribed tests and maneuvers.
- Define, plan, organize, and execute complex flight programs and flight test events.
- Ensure adherence to service guidance, company policy and procedures, and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations.
- Develop and verify procedures for new aircraft features. Design operational and safety procedures and training syllabus courseware.
- Conduct demonstrations and participate in operational and experimental ground and flight tests of assigned UAVs. Represent the organization with senior military and commercial customers.
- Instruct UAV student pilots and instructor pilots-in-training in ground and flight operations.
- Evaluate UAV pilots to maintain standardization of company procedures and practices.
- Uphold all laws, regulations, and applicable obligations while representing the Company.
- Maintain a safe working environment in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- A four-year technical degree or trade school equivalency, coupled with five or more years of experience in UAV operation or aviation. Equivalent professional or military experience in UAV or aviation may be considered.
- Demonstrated extensive understanding of UAV and FAA principles, theories, and concepts.
- Possession of a FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate with a current instrument rating and the ability to maintain instrument currency. Alternatively, DOD specialized remotely piloted aircraft system training/qualification documented on USAF Form 8 or equivalent is acceptable.
- Minimum 500 hours as Pilot-in-Command (PIC) required, with UAV instructor or multiple UAV aircraft qualification preferred.
- 1,000 UAV hours.
- Ability to obtain DOD Secret clearance and customer-specific clearances.
- Capability to travel on CONUS and OCONUS deployments.
- Exceptional analytical, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills to effectively interact with all levels of employees, including senior management, senior military and civilian customers, contractors, and aircrew.
- Comprehensive knowledge of computer operations and applications.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, including the capacity to work extended hours and travel as required.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Salary Range: $115,010 - $177,215
- Travel Percentage: 50-75%
