Sensor Operator and Instructor - Aero Services
General Atomics Systems Integration, LLC (GA-SI), a leading provider of military and commercial engineering services recognized for its expertise in systems integration technologies, reliability improvements, and control system design, seeks a highly skilled Sensor Operator and Instructor to join its Aero Services Team in a flex-deployable capacity.
About the Role:
This unique opportunity blends instructional expertise with hands-on operational experience. As the most qualified Predator Sensor Operator within the company, the incumbent will serve in a tri-fold capacity:
- Experimental Test and Evaluation Sensor Operator: Directly contributing to the development of the Predator aircraft platform by performing experimental testing and evaluation of sensor systems.
- Instructor Sensor Operator and Flight Examiner: Sharing expert knowledge and experience by training and evaluating aspiring UAV Sensor Operators on all aspects of ground and flight operations, including academic instruction and in-flight guidance.
- Deployable Sensor Operator: Utilizing advanced skills to operate the Predator Family of Unmanned Air Vehicles in real-world scenarios, executing mission planning, briefings, deployments, and debriefings.
This role requires close collaboration with company engineering and senior management, providing subject matter expertise and contributing to the development of procedures for new aircraft features.
Responsibilities Include:
- Performing experimental test and evaluation of sensor systems.
- Instructing and evaluating UAV student sensor operators in all aspects of ground and flight operations.
- Operating the Predator Family of Unmanned Air Vehicles, including mission planning, briefing, execution, and debriefing.
- Consulting with engineering and management on Predator aircraft development.
- Developing and verifying procedures for new aircraft features.
- Supporting training syllabus and courseware development.
- Ensuring compliance with all governing regulations, including service guidance, company procedures, and FAA regulations.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent trade school certification preferred. Equivalent professional or military experience in UAV or aviation may be substituted.
- 12+ years of sensor operator experience or experience operating complex, integrated systems, preferably airborne sensors.
- 7+ years of UAV operation or aviation experience with significant deployment experience.
- Advanced understanding of UAVs, tactical reconnaissance, and aviation principles.
- Ability to travel CONUS and OCONUS.
- Ability to obtain an FAA Class II medical certificate.
- Excellent analytical, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Detailed knowledge of computer operations and applications.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexibility to work extended hours and travel as required.
