Sensor Operator and Instructor - Aero Services
General Atomics Systems Integration, LLC (GA-SI), a leading provider of cutting-edge military and commercial engineering solutions, seeks a highly skilled and experienced Sensor Operator and Instructor to join their Aero Services Team in a flexible deployment capacity.
About the Role:
This unique opportunity blends the responsibilities of a seasoned Sensor Operator with the vital role of instructing and mentoring future generations of UAV professionals. Demonstrating a high degree of autonomy, the selected candidate will play a pivotal role in:
- Leading and Participating in Flight Operations: Overseeing and actively participating in mission planning, execution, briefings, debriefings, and ensuring adherence to aircrew resource management and safety protocols.
- Expert UAV Operation: Operating the UAV payload during ground and flight operations to meet stringent customer requirements and mission objectives.
- Procedure Development and Training: Developing and verifying procedures for new aircraft features, crafting operational and safety protocols, and designing comprehensive training syllabi.
- Technical Expertise and Representation: Conducting demonstrations, participating in operational and experimental flight tests, and acting as a primary technical liaison with senior military and commercial clients.
- Instruction and Mentorship: Providing comprehensive ground and flight instruction to aspiring UAV Sensor Operators, conducting flight examinations, and serving as a subject matter expert.
- Standardization and Compliance: Evaluating UAV Sensor Operators to ensure adherence to company procedures and practices. Supporting the Pilot-in-Command in maintaining compliance with all governing regulations.
Qualifications:
- Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent, with a minimum of five years (or 1,000+ hours) of demonstrable experience in UAV or aviation operations. Equivalent professional or military experience will be considered.
- Technical Proficiency: Extensive understanding of UAV and FAA principles, theories, and concepts. In-depth knowledge of UAVs, tactical reconnaissance, and aviation principles. Ability to obtain an FAA Class II medical certificate.
- Communication and Teamwork: Exceptional analytical, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, enabling effective interaction with personnel at all levels. Proven ability to work both independently and as part of a team, often under pressure and with demanding deadlines.
- Travel and Availability: Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required. Ability to work extended hours as needed.
- Security Clearance: Must be a U.S. Citizen and possess or be eligible for a Secret security clearance.
Benefits:
This position offers a competitive salary range of $65,350 - $99,805, commensurate with experience and qualifications. While relocation assistance is not provided for this role, a travel percentage requirement of 50-75% allows for a dynamic and engaging work experience.
