UAV Pilot (Flex) - General Atomics Systems Integration
General Atomics Systems Integration (GA-SI), a leading provider of military and commercial engineering services, is seeking an experienced UAV Pilot to join its Aero Services Division. Job Summary
This role involves coordinating ground and flight operations, including mission planning, execution, briefing, debriefing, aircrew resource management, and ensuring safety. The UAV Pilot serves as Pilot-in-Command (PIC) for assigned Unmanned Air Vehicles (UAVs) and provides instruction as an Instructor Pilot.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and participate in ground and flight operations, encompassing mission planning, execution, briefing, debriefing, aircrew resource management, and safety.
- Remotely pilot UAVs during engineering tests and flight test/demonstration support, ensuring compliance with specifications and operational suitability through prescribed tests and maneuvers.
- Define, plan, organize, and execute flight programs and flight test events.
- Ensure compliance with service guidance, company policy and procedures, and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations.
- Contribute to the development of operational and safety procedures and training syllabus courseware.
- Conduct demonstrations and participate in operational ground and flight tests of assigned UAVs. Represent the organization with military and commercial customers.
- Provide instruction to UAV student pilots in ground and flight operations.
- Adhere to all applicable laws, regulations, and obligations in the conduct of company business.
- Maintain a safe work environment and adhere to established operating procedures and practices.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- A four-year technical degree or equivalent trade school equivalency is preferred, along with two or more years of experience in UAV operation or aviation. Equivalent professional or military experience may be substituted for formal education.
- Demonstrated understanding of UAV and FAA principles, theories, and concepts.
- Possess a current FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate with an instrument rating and the ability to maintain instrument currency or hold a DOD specialized remotely piloted aircraft system training/qualification documented on USAF Form 8 or equivalent.
- Minimum of five hundred (500) hours as Pilot-in-Command (PIC).
- Ability to travel on both CONUS and OCONUS deployments.
- Excellent analytical, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills for effective interaction with all levels of employees, military and civilian customers, contractors, and aircrew.
- In-depth knowledge of computer operations and applications.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, with the willingness to work extended hours and travel as required.
Compensation:
The salary range for this position is $95,700 - $146,130.
Work Style:
This position operates on a Flex deployment rotation schedule, with approximately 12-16 weeks working and 12 weeks off, while maintaining full benefits. Flex employees are compensated competitively during deployments or training periods.
