Position Summary
GA-SI is currently seeking a highly skilled UAV Instructor/Operator Pilot to join its dynamic Aero Services division. This pivotal role involves providing comprehensive aircrew training, conducting evaluations, and ensuring sustained flight operations for customer organizational units within the General Atomics Performance-Based Logistics (PBL) US Army field support framework. The incumbent will be instrumental in coordinating and executing complex ground and flight missions, upholding the highest standards of safety and operational excellence.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Serves as an Instructor Operator for General Atomics' Performance-Based Logistics (PBL) US Army field support, providing critical aircrew training, evaluations, and support for sustained flight operations to customer organizational units.
- Coordinates and actively participates in all facets of ground and flight operations, encompassing comprehensive mission planning, execution, briefing, debriefing, aircrew resource management, and adherence to stringent safety protocols.
- May conduct remote piloting of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) to assess compliance with specifications and operational suitability, performing prescribed flight tests and maneuvers during critical flight test and demonstration support.
- Ensures strict compliance with all applicable service guidance, company policies and procedures, and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations.
- Contributes to the development and verification of procedures for new aircraft features, actively participating in the creation of operational and safety guidelines, and training syllabus courseware.
- Maintains a steadfast commitment to observing all laws, regulations, and corporate obligations in all business operations, while consistently working in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required.
Job Qualifications
- Possesses educational training equivalent to a four-year technical degree or trade school equivalency, coupled with a minimum of two years of experience in UAV operation or general aviation. Commensurate professional or military experience in UAV or aviation may be considered in lieu of formal education.
- Demonstrates strong familiarity with Army forms, records, and publications, along with Contractor Flight and Ground Operations procedures and records (DCMA 8210).
- Exhibits a comprehensive and detailed understanding of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) principles, theories, and concepts.
- Accumulated a minimum of two hundred (200) hours in a Universal Ground Control Station (UGCS) or One System Ground Control Station (OSGCS), with at least fifty (50) hours as Pilot-in-Command (PIC) holding a UAV instructor or multiple UAV aircraft qualification.
- A graduate of the Department of the Army (DA) or Deputy of Engineering and Sciences (DES) Instructor Operator (IO) Course for the MQ-1C Gray Eagle.
- Demonstrates excellent analytical, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, enabling effective and accurate interaction with employees at all levels, as well as military and civilian customers, contractors, and aircrew.
- Possesses detailed knowledge of computer operations and various applications.
- Capable of maintaining a valid FAA Class II flight physical.
- Ability to thrive both independently and collaboratively within a team environment, with a willingness to work extended hours and travel as required.
