Position Summary:

GA-SI presents an exciting opportunity for a skilled and experienced UAV Instructor/Operator Pilot to join its Aero Services division in Dugway, UT. This role is pivotal in supporting customer organizational units through aircrew training, evaluations, and sustained flight operations for General Atomics PBL US Army field support programs.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • The UAV Instructor/Operator Pilot serves as a primary Instructor Operator, supporting aircrew development and flight activities.
  • Responsibilities include coordinating and actively participating in ground and flight operations, encompassing mission planning, execution, briefing, debriefing, aircrew resource management, and safety protocols.
  • The role requires ensuring strict compliance with service guidance, company policy, and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations.
  • This position may involve remotely piloting vehicles to assess compliance with specifications and operational suitability during flight test and demonstration support through specifically prescribed tests and maneuvers.
  • The Instructor/Operator may also contribute to the development and verification of procedures for new aircraft features and participate in the creation of operational and safety procedures, as well as training syllabus courseware.
  • The position demands adherence to all applicable laws, regulations, and company obligations, operating safely in accordance with established procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Requires educational training equivalent to the completion of a four-year technical degree or trade school equivalency, combined with five or more years of experience in UAV operations or aviation. Equivalent professional or military experience in UAV or aviation may be considered in lieu of formal education.
  • Must possess familiarity with Army forms, records, and publications, along with Contractor Flight and Ground Operations procedures and records (DCMA 8210).
  • Demonstrated detailed understanding of UAV and FAA principles, theories, and concepts is essential.
  • A minimum of six hundred (600) hours operating in a UGCS/OSGCS is required, including at least two hundred (200) hours as Pilot-in-Command (PIC) with UAV instructor or multiple UAV aircraft qualification.
  • Graduation from the Department of the Army (DA) or Department of the Air Force (DES) IO Course for MQ-1C Gray Eagle is mandatory.
  • Requires excellent analytical, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills to effectively interact with all levels of employees, military and civilian customers, contractors, and aircrew.
  • Detailed knowledge of computer operations and applications is necessary.
  • Ability to maintain a FAA Class II flight physical is required.
  • The ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment is essential.
  • Must be available to work extended hours and travel as required (0 – 25%).
