UGCS Qualified/Non-Deployable Pilot III
General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI), a world leader in remotely piloted aircraft and advanced surveillance systems, seeks a qualified UGCS Qualified/Non-Deployable Pilot III. Under general direction, the successful candidate will coordinate ground flight operations, including mission planning, execution, briefing, debriefing, aircrew resource management, and ground flight safety. This individual will provide various types of flight support, such as transition training, sustainment training, test events, training development, and simulator operations.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as an Instructor Operator for GA-ASI, training and evaluating contractor personnel and Army operators on the Gray Eagle Unmanned Aircraft System. This includes sustainment training, upgrade training, standardization flight evaluations, no-notice evaluations, and refresher training.
- Coordinate and actively participate in ground and flight operations, encompassing mission planning, execution, briefing, debriefing, aircrew resource management, and safety procedures.
- Remotely pilot vehicles to assess compliance with specifications and operational suitability during flight test/demonstration support, adhering to prescribed tests and maneuvers.
- Ensure adherence to service guidance, company policies and procedures, and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations.
- Develop and verify procedures for new aircraft features and contribute to the development of operational and safety procedures and training syllabus courseware.
- Observe all applicable laws, regulations, and company obligations. Maintain a safe working environment in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
- Familiarity with Army forms, records, and publications, as well as Contractor Flight and Ground Operations procedures and records (DCMA 8210).
- Perform additional functions and other duties as assigned or required.
Job Qualifications:
- Educational training equivalent to the completion of a four-year technical degree or trade school equivalency and five or more years’ experience in UAV operation or aviation. Equivalent professional or military experience in UAV or aviation may be substituted in lieu of education.
- Demonstrated detailed understanding of UAV and FAA principles, theories, and concepts.
- Minimum of five hundred (500) hours in a UGCS, with fifty (50) hours as Gray Eagle Aircraft Commander (AC).
- Graduate of DA or DES Instructor Operator (IO) Course.
- Customer-specific clearance(s) may be required.
- Detailed knowledge of computer operations and applications.
- Ability to maintain a FAA Class II flight physical.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance.
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment, as well as the ability to work extended hours and travel as required.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience operating and/or instructing the Gray Eagle Extended Range (GE-ER) platform is highly desired but not required.
- FAA Private Pilot Certificate with a current instrument rating and ability to maintain certificate and instrument currency, or a specialized aircraft system qualification is desired but not required.
- Strong background working with Universal Mission Simulator (UMS) as well as UGCS Embedded Trainer (ET) / Mission Server is desired but not required.
Compensation:
\$105,360 – \$160,883
