Overview
The Team Leader Flight Test manages engineering flight test aspects of company flight operations at the Salem, Oregon location. The successful candidate oversees daily team activities, manages project schedule performance, participates in flight tests and evaluations, and provides flight crew training, mentoring, and performance evaluations.
Essential Functions

Manage daily activities of the Flight Test Pilot and Flight Test Engineer team.

Hire, train, and lead the flight test team to ensure aircraft certification and development flight-test capabilities, including conducting annual performance evaluations.

Establish policies, procedures, and standards to support departmental and company aviation objectives.

Actively participate in all aspects of company flight test and evaluation.

Provide training to Flight Test Pilots and Flight Test Engineers, including initial aircraft training, second-in-command training, formation flight, and flight test procedures.

Communicate with the FAA by conducting briefings, responding to inquiries, and soliciting feedback on aviation products and projects.

Support Engineering and Quality Control in FAA certification activities.

Assist Engineering with development and certification flight testing.

Collaborate with Marketing to provide technical coordination with Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) customers and support aircraft systems demonstrations.

Assist Marketing in promoting and demonstrating products to potential customers.
Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience.

Minimum of 5 years of experience leading aircraft or component development and certification teams.

Strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Team-oriented with a positive attitude and the ability to work effectively with others.
Desired Qualifications
-
FAA Certificated Flight Instructor with Airplane, Instrument Airplane, Multiengine Airplane, or Rotorcraft ratings.

FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate with Airplane, Single and Multiengine Land and Instrument ratings, or Airline Transport Pilot Certificate (or ICAO equivalent).

Current FAA Class I or II medical certificate.

FAA Designated Engineering Representative (DER) – Flight Test Pilot, FAR 23 and/or 25.

3+ years of experience in development and certification flight testing of avionics or flight control systems.
-
200+ hours as Pilot In Command (PIC) in turbine-powered aircraft.
