This position provides instructional aide support to the delivery of flight instruction for the Flight Department, as well as assisting with the functional leadership of a team of CFIs and student group
Job Description
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
-
Provide CFI services in accordance with FAA syllabi and standards Assist in coordinating the effective use of resources for team of flight instructors and student group.

Fulfill assigned schedule, maintain accurate records as required by FAA, maintain a positive environment for students with emphasis on safety, professionalism, and equipment security

Effectively coach and mentor team of CFIs so as to ensure student success.

Participate in activities of the instructional team, including planning, development, and scheduling as a cooperative and professional team player

Mentor students as a positive role model in the achievement of their learning and career goals
-
Participate in professional development activities which provide for continually updated knowledge and skills
-
Assist student solo flight activities.

Maintain all appropriate training records Using FVTC airplanes/simulators as required, continuously meet the recent flight experience requirements of FAR 61.57 (c), 9d), and (e), for single and multi-engine land planes, and maintain documentation required by FAR 61.51

Maintain full compliance with all applicable Federal Aviation Regulations and College/Program policies and procedures.

Serve as Assistant Safety Officer as applicable in Safety Management System protocol. In accordance with FAR 141 and as assigned, perform duties as Check Instructor.

Other duties as assigned.
SECONDARY JOB FUNCTIONS
-
Assist with student recruitment, including transfer student planning, and support public relations efforts.
-
Assist with academic issues and administrative counseling for student success.
-
Assist with updates of charts/data/etc.
-
Assist with coordination of aircraft maintenance.
-
Perform Duty Pilot functions (aircraft fueling, hangaring, building security, etc.)
-
Stock and clean aircraft.
QUALIFICATIONS, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE
-
Associate Degree or Technical Diploma in Aeronautics or related field is required. Bachelor’s Degree is preferred, AND
-
Two years of recent, related work experience, OR An equivalent combination of related education, training, and experience.

CFI-ASEL, CFI-AMEL, and CFI-IA is required.
-
Ability to maintain a Class I or II medical certificate, a current Flight Review (FAR 61.56), and a current CFI certificate (FAR 61.197).
-
Ability to assist in training first time CFI applicants in accordance with FAR 61.195.
-
Time in a C172 and/or BE-76 is preferred.

Additional Information
Starting pay: $27.47 per hour.
Note: Internal applicants' wage will be based upon the applicable compensation structure.
