Role Overview

The primary objective of this role is to supervise all flight instructors and Synthetic Flight Instructors (SFIs) to ensure standardized, high-quality instruction. The successful candidate will oversee the annual Flight Instructor and SFI standardization program, manage the suitability of new instructors, and implement robust assessment processes to monitor instructional quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor trainee performance, instigate remedial training as required, and recommend improvements to flight training syllabi.
  • Oversee the accuracy, completeness, and regulatory compliance of trainee flight instruction records, initiating corrective actions for deficiencies.
  • Conduct final reviews and approve trainee flight instruction records to confirm completion of training requirements.
  • Liaise with management to ensure instructor availability aligns with approved courses, trainee volume, and operational demands.
  • Maintain oversight of instructor licensing, medical validity, and training records to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with instructor and trainee recency requirements; monitor and report on flight and duty time limitations.
  • Report non-compliance with regulations or Operations and Training Manual provisions to relevant stakeholders.
  • Standardize all flight instructors and provide briefing materials for flight and simulation training.
  • Delegate standardization and supervision of Instructor Examiners (IEs) to Standardization Instructors (SIs) while maintaining accountability for training quality.
  • Ensure appropriate arrangements for the signing of all course completion certificates.
  • Assist in ensuring flight simulation training adheres to Competent Authority regulations.
  • Ensure training personnel are appropriately certified and allocated according to the training plan.
  • Develop and support training courses and programs aligned with approved curricula.
  • Manage the Instructor/Examiner Master List, ensuring all legal and operational documentation remains current.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma.
  • Experience: 8–10 years of experience in leading flight training academies, including the design and oversight of ab-initio programs aligned with ICAO, GCAA, and airline standards.
  • Leadership: Proven expertise in instructor development, standardization, performance management, and operational safety leadership.
  • Licensing: Must hold a valid ATPL and a TRE certificate; must possess the highest professional pilot license relevant to training courses.
  • Language: Fluency in English (ICAO English Level 5 or above preferred).
  • Additional Skills: Multi-crew experience and familiarity with ICAO, CAA, EASA, and FAA regulatory frameworks are preferred.

Information Security (ISR) Requirements

The candidate must read and comply with all Company ISR policies, report security weaknesses or incidents to the relevant Line Manager or the Information Security team, complete mandatory ISR awareness sessions, and adhere to security guidelines during day-to-day operations.
