Pilot Instructor - C-17 Aircraft

FlightSafety International, a global leader in aviation training, is seeking a qualified Pilot Instructor to conduct ground-based training for C-17 pilots at their facility. This role involves instructing and assessing the training progress of aircrew members within an established Training System (TS) curriculum.

About the Role

• Conduct all Initial, Upgrade, Requalification, and Refresher training using various training devices and simulators, including the KC-46 aircraft.
• Deliver ground-based training on tanker and receiver operating procedures, identifying and remediating student challenges.
• Instruct Maintenance Personnel on Engine Run courses.
• Perform briefings, debriefings, and provide counseling to enhance student technical acumen and proficiency.
• Analyze student data and prepare for review sessions.
• Serve as a C-17 Pilot Subject Matter Expert (SME).
• Maintain high instructional standards and possess in-depth knowledge of KC-46 aircraft systems and operating procedures.
• Apply instructional principles and theories effectively for aircrew training systems.
• Contribute to courseware corrections, modifications, and updates to training policies.
• Operate the Student Management System.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Eight (8) years of flying experience.
• Five (5) years as a C-17 pilot with air drop and aerial refueling experience, or the ability to obtain an AMC/A3TK waiver.
• Two (2) years or 200 hours of flight instructor experience in air drop, aerial refueling, and tactics.
• Recent C-17 flight simulator pilot instructor experience and CATS MECOC certification are desired.
• Ability to fluently read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for clear information relay.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to customer questions.
• Working knowledge of instructional principles and theories related to training systems.
• Proficiency with personal computers and software applications (word processing, spreadsheets, databases).
• Successful completion of annual internal standardization evaluations.
• Possession of an active SECRET Security Clearance.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Regularly required to talk, hear, sit, stand, walk, and use hands.
• Occasionally required to reach, stoop, or kneel.
• Frequently required to ingress/egress simulators and aircraft.
• May work in inclement weather and temperature extremes.
• Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally up to 35 pounds.
• Noise levels can range from quiet to extremely loud.
• Must be able to exit the simulator via escape ladder.
