FlightSafety International seeks a part-time Simulator Second in Command (SIC) to support customer pilot training programs in Lutz, Florida. The SIC will act as a qualified co-pilot for internal and external customers during recurrent, initial, and generic training courses, ensuring adherence to established training curriculums.
About the Role
The Simulator Second in Command (SIC) is a part-time position responsible for maintaining currency and acting as the "Second-In-Command" for customer pilots undergoing training in multi-crew aircraft. This role involves serving as a competent co-pilot without performing instructional duties, ensuring a realistic flight training environment.
Responsibilities

Act as Second-in-Command (SIC) for clients training in multi-crew aircraft who have arrived for training without a flying partner.

Serve as a competent SIC, focusing on operational duties rather than instructional tasks.

Maintain SIC pilot qualification in accordance with the requirements of assigned training programs.

Adhere to FlightSafety International’s Quality Management Systems (QMS) processes and procedures for SIC qualification.

Ensure all required certificates, ratings, and designations for SIC duties are kept current.

Act as SIC in various aircraft types for Part 142, Part 135, and non-FAA clients as necessary.
Requirements

High school diploma or Certificate of High School Equivalency (G.E.D.) with two to three (2-3) years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Commercial Pilot Certificate with appropriate category, class, and instrument ratings.

Minimum of 450 flight hours.

Fluency in English, encompassing verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to speak, understand, read, and write.

Excellent cockpit verbal communication skills.

Ability to interact professionally with diverse customers.

Adaptability to changing schedules and high-pressure situations.

A second language may be required at certain Learning Centers to meet specific needs.
Physical Demands and Work Environment

Regular use of hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reaching with hands and arms; and talking or hearing.

Potential requirement to stand; walk; sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell.

Possession of physical range of body motion to operate rudder controls and/or anti-torque pedals with both feet, manipulate simulator controls, and enter/exit the simulator.

Ability to exit a malfunctioning simulator in a severely pitched attitude.

Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Work environment may involve proximity to moving mechanical parts, high or precarious places, and occasional exposure to various environmental conditions.
