Position Overview: Simulator Second in Command

The Simulator Second in Command (SIC) is responsible for maintaining currency in assigned programs to serve as the Second-in-Command for internal and external customer pilots during recurrent, initial, or generic training courses. The SIC facilitates multi-crew aircraft training for clients arriving without a flying partner, ensuring professional and efficient operations without performing instructional duties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as Second-in-Command for clients in multi-crew aircraft training.
  • Maintain SIC pilot qualifications in accordance with assigned program requirements and FlightSafety International’s Quality Management Systems (QMS).
  • Ensure all required certificates, ratings, and designations remain current.
  • Serve as SIC across various aircraft types for Part 142, Part 135, and non-FAA clients as required.

Candidate Requirements

Education

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. with two to three years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience and Certifications

  • Must possess a Commercial Pilot Certificate with appropriate category, class, and instrument ratings.
  • Minimum of 450 flight hours.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Fluent in English (verbal and written).
  • Excellent cockpit verbal communication skills.
  • Professional interpersonal skills for high-quality customer interaction.
  • Ability to adapt to dynamic schedules and high-pressure environments.
  • Proficiency in a second language may be required based on specific Learning Center needs.

Physical Demands

The role requires the ability to reach, handle controls, and manipulate rudder/anti-torque pedals with both feet. Candidates must be able to enter, exit, and operate within the simulator device, including emergency egress from a pitched attitude. Physical tasks include regular lifting of up to 10 pounds and frequent lifting of up to 25 pounds. The environment involves working near mechanical parts, potential exposure to varying weather conditions, and noise levels that are typically moderate.
