Purpose of Position
Executive Jet Management, a Berkshire Hathaway company, is seeking qualified Pilot in Command candidates for a Gulfstream G600 aircraft based in Detroit, Michigan (DTW). This is a well-established account operating three corporate jets, supported by a dedicated team including Maintenance Technicians, Flight Attendants, and Pilots. The operation entails approximately 300 hours of Part 91 flying annually per aircraft, covering both domestic and international destinations.
Please note: This is not a commutable position and requires the Pilot in Command to reside within driving distance of DTW airport.
The Pilot in Command holds the ultimate responsibility for ensuring the aircraft is operated in a safe, compliant, and efficient manner. The successful candidate will adhere to all company and regulatory requirements while consistently providing an exceptional service experience to clients.
Tasks and Responsibilities
Ensures the Safe Operation of Flight:
- Ensures crewing and trip assignments comply with company and regulatory requirements.
- Completes flight planning, performance, and weight and balance tasks for each assignment.
- Utilizes Threats, Plans, and Considerations (TPC) briefing methodology to conduct required briefings and mitigate operational risks.
- Complies with company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and coordinates with company personnel as required. Acts as the Ground Security and In-Flight Security Coordinator per company policy.
- Completes all aircraft pre-flight tasks, including assessing the maintenance status, to ensure mission capability. Records all aircraft discrepancies according to company SOPs.
- Ensures all aircraft ground servicing items (e.g., fueling, oil, oxygen) are monitored and accomplished in accordance with SOPs.
- Completes passenger briefings in accordance with company policy and regulation. Delivers the highest level of customer service and accommodates any special passenger needs.
- Utilizes Crew Resource Management (CRM) and Threat and Error Management (TEM) to communicate clearly and in a timely manner with the crew and support personnel during all phases of flight.
Delivers an Exceptional Service Experience:
- Provides quality service to owners and passengers, actively identifying opportunities to enhance the EJM service experience. Investigates and resolves service deviations.
- Collaborates with fellow crew members and internal EJM partners to deliver a consistent service experience. Resolves conflict and challenges professionally.
Maintains Proficiency and Compliance:
- Maintains regulatory and company-required training and recency of experience.
- Complies with the company SMS program and reports safety or non-compliance concerns through the appropriate channels.

Certifications and Licenses
- FAA Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate
- First Class Medical Certificate
Years of Experience
4-6 years of relevant experience
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Requirements (KSAOs)
- Prior experience in corporate/business aviation is preferred.
- FAA Type rating in the applicable fleet (Gulfstream preferred).
- Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position.
- Minimum Time Requirements:
- Total flight time: 3500 hours
- Multi Engine Land (MEL): 1500 hours
- Pilot in Command: 2000 hours
- PIC MEL: 500 hours
- Instrument: 300 hours
- Jet: 500 hours
- Preference is given to local candidates with Gulfstream or similar size aircraft experience.
- International experience is desirable.
