Second In Command (SIC) - Citation XLS

Location: St. Petersburg, Florida (PIE) / Offsite Fully Remote (Must reside in the St. Petersburg region)

Position Type: Full Time

Compensation: $120,000 annually

Schedule: 6 days on, 8 days off

Summary and Objective

The Second In Command (SIC) reports to the Chief Pilot and serves under the Pilot-in-Command (PIC) during flight operations. The SIC is responsible for assisting the PIC in ensuring the safe, efficient operation of company aircraft in accordance with Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR) and established company procedures. This role is essential for maintaining high-level service and operational integrity in a fast-paced aviation environment.

Essential Functions

  • Execute safe and efficient flight operations for domestic trip assignments under Part 135 regulations.
  • Adhere to all duties and responsibilities outlined in company procedure manuals.
  • Maintain a current FAA First Class medical certificate; notify the company immediately of any conditions impairing flight duties.
  • Provide superior passenger service, including greeting passengers, managing luggage storage, conducting briefings, and addressing passenger needs.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and the ability to coordinate and lead the crew.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Education and Experience: Working knowledge of FAR Part 135, FAA, ICAO, and international flight operation regulations.
  • Flight Requirements: ATP complete; FAA First Class Medical; appropriate Type Rating and current certification for Citation XLS.
  • Total Flight Time: Minimum 2,000 hours total time (fixed-wing), including at least 200 hours of multi-engine time.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suites, web-based/mobile applications, and computer data entry; strong understanding of aircraft systems and limitations.
  • Legal and Regulatory: Must possess a valid passport and the ability to obtain/maintain CANPASS authorization. Must be authorized to work lawfully in the U.S.
  • Safety-Sensitive Status: This is a safety-sensitive role subject to FAA-mandated pre-employment and random drug and alcohol testing.
  • Background Check: Successful completion of a comprehensive background check (employment, education, and criminal history) is required.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

The position requires the ability to climb, twist, bend, crouch, stoop, kneel, and crawl in tight quarters. The candidate must be able to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods, as well as push/pull up to 70 pounds and lift/move up to 50 pounds. Operations involve exposure to loud noises (jet engines), industrial/hangar environments, and extreme temperatures. Travel is required 100% while on rotation.
