Position Summary
The Second In Command (SIC) reports administratively to the Chief Pilot and operationally to the Pilot-in-Command (PIC) while on duty. The SIC plays a critical role in assisting the PIC with preparing and executing the safe and efficient operation of company aircraft. This is conducted in strict adherence to Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) and company standard operating procedures. The position involves conducting domestic trip assignments under Part 135 regulations, requiring the maintenance of the highest level of customer service standards.
Key Responsibilities
The Second In Command is responsible for:
- Executing safe and efficient flight operations for domestic Part 135 assignments.
- Maintaining a consistently high level of customer service for all passengers.
- Adhering strictly to all duties and responsibilities outlined in company procedures manuals.
- Holding a current first-class medical certificate as required and promptly notifying the company of any medical condition that may affect flight duties.
- Upholding a high degree of professionalism and demonstrating the ability to coordinate effectively with and support the crew.
- Greeting passengers, assisting with seating arrangements, and managing luggage storage.
- Conducting passenger briefings and responding attentively to passenger requests and needs.
- Performing additional duties as assigned to support the overall operation.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements
The role involves exposure to typical aviation work environments, including loud noises from aircraft machinery and jet engines, outdoor conditions, industrial/hangar settings, and potentially extreme temperatures due to travel requirements. The position also involves working within the often tight or cramped interior spaces of business aircraft.
Physical demands include:
- The ability to see and hear clearly.
- The ability to read, comprehend, and speak English clearly.
- Physical agility allowing for climbing, twisting, bending, crouching, stooping, kneeling, and crawling.
- The ability to move effectively in confined spaces.
- The capacity to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
- The ability to work effectively in all weather conditions as required.
- The capability to regularly push/pull up to 70 pounds and lift/move up to 50 pounds.
Candidates are required to maintain a well-groomed appearance and adhere to the department's dress code and uniform policy.
Qualifications
- Working knowledge of all Federal Aviation Regulations applicable to Part 135 operations.
- Thorough knowledge of FAA, ICAO, and other relevant international flight operations regulations.
- Strong organizational skills and advanced multi-tasking abilities.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal/written communication, and presentation skills.
- Proficiency with computer skills necessary to operate word processing, email, and web-based/mobile device applications.
- Demonstrated passionate attention to detail and the ability to excel in a team atmosphere.
- Ability to maintain a well-groomed appearance in adherence to company standards.
- Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate completion.
- Current FAA First Class Medical Certificate.
- Minimum of 2,000 hours Total Time (Fixed Wing).
- Minimum of 200 hours of Multi-Engine Time.
- Valid Passport.
- Ability to obtain and maintain CANPASS authorization for unrestricted travel to/from Canada as a commercial pilot.
- Must possess a Type Rating in the Citation X.
- This position is classified as Safety-Sensitive under FAA regulations and requires compliance with pre-employment and random drug and alcohol testing protocols.
- Must be authorized to work lawfully in the United States and provide two forms of Federal Identification.
- Successful completion of a comprehensive background check is required prior to employment, including verification of previous employment, education, criminal history, and other relevant information.
