Position Summary
The Second In Command (SIC) reports administratively to the Chief Pilot and operationally to the Pilot-in-Command (PIC) during flight operations. The SIC plays a critical role in assisting the PIC, ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of company aircraft in strict adherence to Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) and established company procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute safe and efficient domestic trip assignments under Part 135 regulations, consistently delivering exceptional customer service.
- Strictly adhere to all duties and responsibilities outlined in company procedures manuals.
- Maintain a current First-Class Medical Certificate as required by policy, promptly notifying the company of any medical condition (physical or mental) that may impair flight duties.
- Demonstrate a high degree of professionalism, exhibiting strong coordination and leadership skills within the flight crew.
- Welcome passengers, assist with seating arrangements, and manage luggage storage.
- Conduct thorough passenger briefings and efficiently respond to passenger requests and needs.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support flight operations.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Aviation Specific:
- Possession of an Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate.
- Current FAA First Class Medical Certificate.
- Minimum of 2,000 hours total fixed-wing flight time.
- Minimum of 200 hours multi-engine flight time.
- Valid Passport.
- Ability to obtain and maintain CANPASS authorization for unrestricted commercial pilot travel to/from Canada.
- Possession of an appropriate aircraft Type Rating.
- Thorough working knowledge of all Federal Aviation Regulations applicable to Part 135.
- Comprehensive understanding of FAA, ICAO, and other international flight operations regulations.

Work Environment & Physical Demands
- Work Environment: The role involves exposure to typical outdoor and industrial/hangar environments, including loud noises from aircraft machinery and jet engines. Some exposure to extreme temperatures is expected due to travel requirements. Work occurs within typical business aircraft interiors, which may involve tight or cramped spaces.
- Physical Demands: Requires the ability to see and hear clearly; read, comprehend, and speak English fluently. Physical requirements include climbing, twisting, bending, crouching, stooping, kneeling, crawling, and moving in tight quarters. The ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods is necessary. Must be able to work in all weather conditions, regularly push/pull up to 70 pounds, and lift/move up to 50 pounds.
Additional Requirements
- Supervisory Responsibilities: This position holds no direct supervisory responsibilities.
- Dress Code & Uniform: Adherence to a well-groomed appearance and departmental dress code is mandatory.
- Travel: 100% travel is required while on rotation.
- Safety-Sensitive Position: This position is classified as a Safety-Sensitive role under Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations, subjecting candidates to pre-employment and random drug and alcohol testing in accordance with FAA guidelines.
- Authorization & Background Check: Candidates must be authorized to work lawfully in the United States and provide two forms of Federal Identification. Successful completion of a comprehensive background check is required prior to employment, including verification of previous employment, education, criminal history, and any other relevant information necessary to determine suitability for the position.
