Corporate Pilot, Second in Command (SIC) – Norfolk, VA
Family Dollar is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Corporate Pilot to serve as Second in Command (SIC) based in Norfolk, VA (500 Volvo Parkway, Chesapeake, Virginia, 23320). This critical role ensures the safe and efficient transport of personnel and company assets.
Responsibilities:
The SIC will be responsible for the safe and orderly conduct of all flights, adhering strictly to all Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs), applicable foreign regulations, and Family Dollar policies. Key duties include:
- Pre-flight planning and coordination, including verification of fuel availability, passenger arrangements, and crew accommodations, promptly notifying the Scheduler/Dispatcher of any discrepancies.
- Meticulous compliance with all instructions and assignments from the Pilot in Command.
- Active participation in aircraft pre-flight inspections.
- Accurate completion of all required paperwork, including BART data entry and timely expense reporting.
- Maintaining flight currency and proficiency through ongoing training and adherence to experience requirements.
- Successful completion of all mandated annual recurrent pilot training.
- Active contribution to the Aviation Department’s Safety Management System (SMS).
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Candidates must possess the following qualifications:
- Commercial Pilot Certificate with appropriate category.
- Current FAA Second-Class Medical Certificate (First-Class certificate required within 30 days of employment).
- Aircraft type rating per FAR Part 61.
- Minimum 1,500 hours total pilot time.
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
- Ability to obtain and maintain an Airline Transport Pilot certificate with appropriate category during Aircraft Initial Training.
- Ability to obtain and maintain the necessary Airport Security clearance for Norfolk International Airport.
- Valid United States Passport.
Working Conditions:
The position involves work both inside the company hangar (with limited air conditioning) and outdoors year-round, at the home base and during travel.
