About the Role:
This position requires a highly skilled and experienced Captain to operate a Lear 45 aircraft, ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of personnel and property. The successful candidate will be based in Hampton Roads, Virginia (relocation may be required).
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Safe and efficient conduct of all flights in strict compliance with all Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs), relevant international regulations, and company policies.
- Meticulous pre-flight planning, including review of trip itineraries, weather conditions, NOTAMs, runway lengths, and aircraft performance data. Immediate notification of the Scheduler/Dispatcher regarding any discrepancies.
- Comprehensive crew briefings covering all aspects of the flight, including flight information publications, departure routes, altitudes, obstructions, air traffic control procedures, normal and emergency communication protocols, and special instructions.
- Effective supervision and coordination with all crew members throughout the flight, from preparation to post-flight documentation.
- Mentorship and training of Co-Pilots, aligning with company policies and standard operating procedures. This includes ensuring all crew members understand and adhere to their responsibilities.
- Coordination of aircraft maintenance and repairs with the Manager of Aircraft Maintenance and Director of Aviation, particularly when aircraft are away from the home base.
- Accurate and timely completion of all required paperwork, including BART data entry and expense reports.
- Proactive maintenance of flight currency and completion of all mandatory annual and recurrent pilot training.
- Active participation in the Aviation Department Safety Management System (SMS).
- Performance of other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
- Airline Transport Pilot Certificate or Commercial Pilot Certificate with appropriate category ratings.
- Minimum 4,000 total pilot flight hours, including 2,000 multi-engine hours and 1,000 PIC hours in jet aircraft.
- Current Lear 45 Type Rating as Captain.
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
- Current FAA Medical Certificate appropriate for the company's operational requirements.
- Ability to obtain and maintain Airport Security clearance for Norfolk International Airport.
- Valid United States Passport.
- Obtaining a First Class FAA Medical Certificate within 30 days prior to commencing employment.
- Maintenance of aircraft type qualification per FAR 61.
Working Conditions:
The role involves working in the company hangar (with limited air conditioning outside of office areas) and outdoors year-round, both at the home base and during travel.
Essential Requirement: Must currently reside in, or be willing to relocate to, the Hampton Roads area.
