Lead Captain
Aviation leader sought to serve as a Lead Captain, acting as a flight crewmember and ensuring effective communication between the client account and Clay Lacy Aviation. This role is responsible for crew compliance with applicable regulations, directives, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), as well as assisting in coordinating training events, reviewing expense reports and invoices, and aiding in managing crew member schedules. The Lead Captain facilitates positive working relationships and perpetuates the company culture and ideals within the flight department.
Responsibilities:
- Act as Pilot in Command (PIC) or Second in Command (SIC) as designated.
- Ensure compliance with flight and maintenance schedules and other directives governing the aircraft’s operation.
- Ensure crew compliance with flight and duty time limitations.
- Ensure the accomplishment of pre-flight/post-flight duties and inspections.
- Coordinate with the Director of Maintenance (DOM) and Account Manager (ACM) to ensure the aircraft is cleaned as necessary.
- Manage aircraft inventory to meet owner or user requirements.
- Monitor crew members’ performance and communicate to the Assistant Chief Pilot (ACP).
- Complete and approve crew expense reports.
- Review monthly billing summaries and report discrepancies.
- Coordinate and manage crewmember’s days off and vacation requests.
- Liaison with the ACP and Director of Training.
- Conduct monthly reviews of currency and upcoming training/evaluation requirements.
- Conduct annual aircraft black book audits.
- Ensure compliance with fleet requirements (SOPs, required paperwork, etc.).
- Maintain familiarity with installed equipment on the aircraft and all required regulatory aircraft operational authorizations and mandates.
- Be aware of scheduled/unscheduled maintenance events.
- Assist in the resolution and communication of mechanical Aircraft On Ground (AOG) events when required.
- Review monthly work orders and invoices.
- Coordinate/communicate maintenance-related items to ensure effective communication.
- Ensure all trip-related requests or changes are communicated to the Charter Department and Chief Pilot’s office.
- Assist in gathering operationally related data for special projects or reporting.
- Mediate and facilitate positive working relationships within the Flight Department.
- Cultivate and maintain good working relationships with all external stakeholders and Clay Lacy Aviation.
- Ensure Clay Lacy Aviation company culture is perpetuated among members of the Flight Department.
- Provide constructive feedback to increase efficiency in processes and procedures.
- Work with the Clay Lacy Aviation ACM in the management of aircraft owner’s overall experience.
- Update the Scheduling Specialist regarding aircraft schedule changes and other relevant matters.
- Coordinate with ACM, DOM, Scheduling Specialist, and managed billing to conduct regular flight department meetings.
- Participate in the interview process and selection of all flight department personnel.
- Communicate with ACM for input and/or approval for all operational, personnel, and administrative issues.
- Make recommendations for additional training for flight department members to ACM & ACP.

Qualifications:
- Lead Captains should possess the minimum experience required to safely operate the assigned aircraft in compliance with company specifications.
- Applicable FAA Part 91 and/or FAA Part 135 requirements for the assigned aircraft type.
- Must maintain current flight requirements – ATP certificate required.
- First Class Medical Required.
