Job Summary

This position, located in Duluth, MN, is responsible for providing flight and ground instruction to Cirrus employees who are members of the company's flying club. The Flight Instructor will also contribute to the safety, recordkeeping, ramp operations, and fleet management of the Cirrus Flying Club. Additional duties include acting as Pilot in Command for Cirrus aircraft during corporate flight operations under 14 CFR part 91, demonstration flights, and ferry flights as needed. The role requires strong customer service and interpersonal skills, with the ability to adapt instructing methods to diverse student types and personalities.

Essential Duties

  • Represent corporate goals and safety standards of Cirrus Aircraft by promoting the company's flying culture through flying club instruction.
  • Organize and deliver ground instruction for private pilot, instrument, and commercial ratings in accordance with Cirrus Aircraft policies and FAA regulations.
  • Enhance flight safety through high-quality, standardized flight and ground instruction.
  • Develop and implement effective methods for safety communication, recordkeeping, ramp operations, and fleet management for the flying club.
  • Adapt teaching methodologies to maximize the value and effectiveness of training opportunities for all Cirrus employees.
  • Maintain communication with students pre- and post-training.
  • Escalate customer and internal pilot issues to the Lead Flight Instructor.
  • Assist with company standardization flights to ensure pilot adherence to company standards.
  • Provide flight and ground instruction per Cirrus policy and procedure documents.
  • Operate Cirrus aircraft in compliance with applicable regulations and company policies.
  • Make timely and accurate decisions regarding flight safety.
  • Manage travel expenses in accordance with company policies.
  • Deliver professional customer service.
  • Act as Pilot in Command for corporate flight missions, ferry flights, internal training flights, and demonstration flights.
  • Conduct factory tours for customers during delivery and training processes.
  • Maintain comprehensive aircraft knowledge and serve as a model aviator, flight instructor, and Cirrus representative.
  • Perform pre-flight and post-flight inspections, including aircraft cleaning, fueling, and fluid management, and update chart subscriptions.
  • Safely and efficiently maneuver aircraft on the Cirrus ramp using the flight operations tug.

Qualifications

  • Current FAA Flight Instructor Certificate (Airplane Single-Engine, Instrument Airplane).
  • Hold FAA Pilot Certificate (Commercial Airplane Single-Engine Land, Instrument Airplane).
  • Current Second-Class Airman Medical Certificate or higher.
  • Minimum of 150 total instruction hours or graduation from a Cirrus approved flight training school.
  • Experience with Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) in congested airspace, mountain flying, extensive Instrument Meteorological Conditions (IMC), international flight, and night flying is preferred.
