Job Summary: Flight Instructor

Cirrus Aircraft seeks a highly professional and proficient Flight Instructor to deliver industry-leading, learner-centric flight training to its discerning clientele. This specialized role involves providing instruction in the iconic Cirrus SR model aircraft across premier Cirrus Services Centers nationwide. The Instructor utilizes a structured syllabus incorporating proprietary course material to ensure streamlined and efficient learning progression. This position reports directly to the Flight Operations Supervisor.

Ancillary duties for this role include identifying and communicating pilot progression opportunities, meticulous record-keeping, comprehensive safety management, detailed flight and lesson planning, complex problem-solving, and recommending process improvements.

Schedule: This position operates on a dedicated shift schedule of Wednesday through Sunday, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Instructional and Safety Leadership

  • Provides standardized flight and ground instruction in strict adherence to Cirrus policy and procedure documents, enhancing overall flight safety and quality.
  • Conducts training events following established program guidance and regulatory requirements.
  • Meticulously assesses pilot performance across the psychomotor, cognitive, and affective learning domains for each training event.
  • Discovers opportunities to customize training solutions optimally fit the unique needs of individual students.
  • Recommends qualified students for official FAA written and practical examinations.
  • Maintains continuous learning regarding the latest developments and features within the Cirrus Aircraft product line, processing a deep level of aircraft knowledge.
  • Acts as a model aviator, flight instructor, and professional Cirrus representative at all times.

Pilot in Command and Operational Duties

  • Acts as Pilot in Command (PIC) of Cirrus aircraft while performing 14 CFR part 91 corporate flight missions, including demonstration flights, aircraft repositioning, ferry flights, and internal training flights.
  • Executes specialized pilot duties, including flight reviews and proficiency checks.
  • Makes timely, accurate, and safety-critical decisions pertaining to all phases of flight operations.
  • Performs comprehensive normal pre-flight and post-flight inspections, cleaning, fueling, adding oil and de-ice fluid, and updating chart subscriptions as necessary.
  • Adheres to all industry and Cirrus established safety procedures and policies when performing job duties.

Administrative and Customer Service Duties

  • Meticulously records all training event activities and results within official pilot training records.
  • Provides excellent and professional customer service throughout all interactions.
  • Maintains professional communication with students as required both preceding and following training events.

Required Qualifications and FAA Certificates

Candidates must satisfy the following stringent requirements to ensure mastery of the subject matter and operational safety:

  • Minimum of one (1) year of prior pilot experience.
  • Documentation of 350 hours of dual instruction given, or 250 hours of dual instruction given specifically in Cirrus aircraft.
  • Current and valid FAA Flight Instructor Certificate (CFI) with the following endorsements:
    • Airplane Single Engine.
    • Instrument Airplane (CFII).
  • Current and valid FAA Pilot Certificate (Commercial or ATP) with the following ratings:
    • Commercial Airplane Single Engine Land.
    • Instrument Airplane.
  • Possession of a current Second-class Airman Medical Certificate or higher.

Preferred Experience

The ideal candidate will possess specialized operational experience in IFR flight within congested airspace, mountain flying, extensive Instrument Meteorological Conditions (IMC) flight, international operations, and night flight experience.
