Job Summary

The Flight Instructor provides industry-leading, learner-centric flight training to Cirrus customers. Based at premier Cirrus Services Centers across the USA, this role involves conducting primary flight training in iconic Cirrus Aircraft SR model airplanes. Training follows a structured syllabus utilizing proprietary course material designed to streamline the learning process for discerning customers.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conducts primary flight training with Cirrus clients.
  • Acts as pilot in command of Cirrus aircraft for 14 CFR Part 91 corporate flight operations, including demonstration, repositioning, and post-maintenance flights as needed.
  • Performs flight reviews, proficiency checks, and other pilot and flight instructor duties.
  • Identifies and communicates pilot progression, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
  • Maintains meticulous training records.
  • Contributes to safety management processes.
  • Conducts thorough flight planning and preparation.
  • Develops and delivers comprehensive lesson plans.
  • Engages in complex problem-solving related to training and operations.
  • Demonstrates mastery of subject matter material related to Cirrus aircraft and aviation principles.
  • Recommends process improvements for training and flight operations.
  • Recommends students for FAA written and practical tests.
  • Assesses pilot performance across psychomotor, cognitive, and affective domains during training events.
  • Customizes training events to meet individual student needs.
  • Performs normal pre-flight and post-flight inspections, ensures aircraft are clean, fueled, and properly serviced, and updates chart subscriptions.
  • Maintains continuous learning on the latest developments in the Cirrus Aircraft product line.
  • Processes and maintains deep aircraft knowledge, serving as a model aviator, flight instructor, and Cirrus representative.
  • Communicates with students as required before and after training events.
  • Enhances flight safety by providing excellent, high-quality, and standardized flight and ground instruction.
  • Adheres to all industry and Cirrus established safety procedures and policies.
  • Provides excellent and professional customer service.
  • Makes timely and accurate decisions regarding safety of flight.
  • Conducts training events following program guidance and requirements.

Qualifications

To perform this role successfully, an individual must demonstrate the ability to perform each essential function satisfactorily.

  • Minimum two years of pilot experience required.
  • Minimum 750 dual given hours, or 500 dual given hours in Cirrus aircraft required.
  • Current FAA Flight Instructor Certificate with Airplane Single Engine and Instrument Airplane ratings.
  • Holds a current FAA Pilot Certificate with Commercial Airplane Single Engine Land and Instrument Airplane ratings.
  • Holds a current Second-class Airman Medical Certificate or higher.
  • Experience in IFR in congested airspace, mountain flying, extensive IMC, international flight, and night operations is preferred.

This position is based in Scottsdale, Arizona, home to one of Cirrus Aircraft's Flight Training hubs and an engineering office. Scottsdale is a vibrant desert city near Phoenix, renowned for its upscale resorts, world-class golf, and dynamic arts scene.
