Job Summary
The Flight Instructor will deliver exceptional flight training for private pilot certificates, instrument ratings, and advanced pilot certifications. Training is conducted using structured syllabi and proprietary course material, ensuring a streamlined learning process for discerning customers. The instructor will also identify and communicate pilot progression, maintain accurate records, manage safety protocols, and participate in flight planning and preparation. Furthermore, they will provide instruction that meets all Cirrus policy and procedure requirements. Ancillary duties include acting as pilot in command of Cirrus aircraft for corporate flights, and contributing to process improvement.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Adhere to all industry and Cirrus established safety procedures and policies.
- Provide exceptional and professional customer service to all students.
- Make timely and accurate decisions regarding the safety of flight.
- Conduct training events following program guidelines and requirements.
- Deliver flight and ground instruction that meets Cirrus' high standards.
- Maintain meticulous records of all training event activities and results.
- Recommend students for FAA written and practical tests when they demonstrate readiness.
- Assess pilot performance across psychomotor, cognitive, and affective learning domains.
- Customize training events to suit individual student needs.
- Act as pilot in command for corporate flight missions, ferry flights, internal training, and demonstrations.
- Perform routine pre- and post-flight inspections.
- Ensure aircraft maintenance by cleaning, fueling, adding oil and de-icing fluid, and updating charts.
- Continuously learn and maintain deep knowledge of Cirrus Aircraft products.
- Serve as a model aviator, flight instructor, and Cirrus representative.
- Maintain communication with students before and after training sessions.
- Enhance flight safety through high-quality, standardized flight and ground instruction.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Current FAA Flight Instructor Certificate with Airplane Single Engine and Instrument Airplane ratings.
- FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate with Airplane Single Engine Land and Instrument Airplane ratings.
- Current Second-Class Airman Medical Certificate or higher.
- Preferred experience includes IFR in congested airspace, mountain flying, IMC, international flight, and night experience.
- Flight Instructor II: One year of pilot experience and 350 total instruction hours or 250 Cirrus instruction hours.
- Flight Instructor III: Two years of pilot experience and 750 total instruction hours or 500 Cirrus instruction hours.
