Second in Command - Part 91/135 Domestic and International Flight Operations

Chantilly Air, Inc. seeks a highly qualified and experienced Second in Command (SIC) to join our dynamic team. This position is dedicated to a three-crew member aircraft, operating under Part 91 and 135 regulations, with a focus on domestic and international flight operations. The role is based in Washington, D.C., offering a competitive salary and benefits package.

Responsibilities:

The Second in Command plays a crucial role in ensuring the safe, legal, and efficient operation of company aircraft. Key responsibilities include:

  • Reporting directly to the Chief Pilot.
  • Acting under the operational direction of the Pilot-in-Command (PIC) on all flights.
  • Performing all flight duties as assigned by the PIC.
  • Promoting and maintaining a safe operating environment, adhering to all FAA and Chantilly Air requirements.
  • Adhering to all company policies and procedures.
  • Representing Chantilly Air with professionalism in all environments.
  • Maintaining currency with FAA First Class Medical physical examination requirements.
  • Providing exceptional customer service and professionalism.
  • Collaborating and assisting in all department duties as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 2000 hours total flight time, with preference for 1500 hours in multi-engine fixed-wing aircraft.
  • Minimum of 500 hours PIC time in fixed-wing aircraft, preferably with 250 hours in jet turbine aircraft.
  • Experience in business jet operations highly desired.
  • International flight experience preferred.
  • Valid Airline Transport Pilot Certificate (ATP) required.
  • Current FCC Restricted Radiotelephone Operator's Permit required.
  • Current FAA First Class Medical certificate required.
  • Valid passport required.
  • Clean flight record with no accidents or incidents.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English.
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screening, PRIA background check, credit check, DMV check (with valid driver's license), and employment verification.
  • Ability to relocate within 1 hour of Chantilly Air Inc.'s base of operations in Manassas, VA (KHEF).
  • Must meet all international travel requirements related to COVID-19.

Working Conditions:

The working environment for this position is typical for an on-demand flight operation. Crew members are exposed to varying climate conditions, air turbulence, time zone changes, altitude changes, changing locations, variable hours and working conditions, dry air, jet fuel and exhaust fumes, and noise levels from engines and other ground equipment.

Physical Requirements:

The position requires physical exertion, including pulling, pushing, kneeling, twisting, climbing, squatting, bending, and lifting of bags and equipment.
