Cabin Crew Base Manager - Chinese Mainland

This role plays a critical function in fostering a thriving and supportive environment for our local cabin crew. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills, coupled with a deep understanding of the airline industry.
Key Responsibilities:
Relationship Management and Communication:
- Proactively cultivate and strengthen bonds within the local cabin crew community.
- Foster and maintain robust working relationships with both cabin crew and office teams.
- Provide support and guidance to cabin crew, enabling them to adapt to evolving business and operational landscapes.
- Effectively liaise with airport personnel and other relevant departments as needed.
- Disseminate policy and procedure updates in accordance with legislative changes, ensuring clear communication to line managers and the Employee Relations & Bases (ER&B) team.
Performance Management:
- Enhance performance standards through positive reinforcement and recognition, nurturing a high-performing culture.
- Deliver regular feedback, counselling, and support to cabin crew, actively managing performance.
- Monitor cabin crew attendance diligently.
- Conduct first-stage investigations for passenger complaints, punctuality, uniform, and grooming infractions, as well as grievance and disciplinary meetings in conjunction with line managers.
- Provide counselling and coaching to cabin crew, effectively resolving crew-to-crew issues.
- Monitor cabin crew performance records and deliver coaching as needed, ensuring clear communication of both high and low scores.
- Contribute to the administration of the local recognition program.
Roster Preparation:
- Gather and submit all relevant information to Crew Resources for roster preparation.
- Liaise with Crew Resources and Crew Operations to facilitate roster changes.
- Manage last-minute swaps, special requests, and other urgent requirements.
Administration and Workforce Planning:
- Uphold the integrity of Cathay Pacific's cabin safety and security policies and procedures at all times.
- Oversee the daily operations and administration of the local base office.
- Ensure crew arrive and depart on time, coordinating with ground staff to address any flight schedule disruptions.
- Communicate with crew effectively, disseminating notices via email or bulletin board regarding in-flight services, crew administration, and base-specific information.
- Receive sick call-ins and make necessary roster adjustments.
- Collaborate with GBS and the Crew Rostering team on subsequent roster arrangements for resignation cases and support the process for all cabin crew leave requests.
- Maintain the content of the internal website for the Chinese Mainland base.
- Support with other reasonable ad hoc tasks as required.
Recruitment, Selection, and Promotion:
- Prepare recruitment materials as needed.
- Compile data files to enhance merit-based promotions.
- Participate in recruitment, selection, and promotion activities as required.
- Collaborate with external service providers on recruitment processes.
- Liaise with relevant authorities regarding crew list registration and other visa applications.
Preflight Briefing:
- Ensure preflight briefings are conducted and crew meet established standards before operating flights. This includes verifying crew have successfully completed computerized safety questions, reviewing safety and service notices, service flow, travel and other documents, and conducting grooming checks.
Emergency & Accident (E&A):
- Fulfill emergency, accident, and crisis response responsibilities as required.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in any discipline.
- Minimum of 3 years' relevant work experience in the airline industry.
- Strong computer literacy, proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Word.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Exceptional command of written and spoken English and Putonghua.
