Calm Air International, a distinguished regional airline serving Central Canada's Northern communities, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join its Flight Operations team as an Assistant Chief Pilot. From its operational hubs in Winnipeg, Thompson, Churchill (Manitoba) and Rankin Inlet (Nunavut), Calm Air provides essential scheduled passenger, charter, and cargo services across Manitoba and the Kivalliq Region of Nunavut. The Opportunity

The Assistant Chief Pilot will be instrumental in supporting the Chief Pilot in various operational and administrative functions within Flight Operations.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Support:
- Assist in the development and maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Monitor pilot flight time, duty times, qualifications, and currency to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Contribute to the investigation of Safety Management System (SMS) reports and aid in the implementation of corrective actions.
- Collaborate with the SMS Manager to develop and maintain the Flight Operations SMS program.
- Assist in the management and optimization of VMO, Pelesys, and Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) systems.
- Manage new hire orientation and training setup.
- Oversee the ordering of pilot uniforms.
- Prepare and distribute monthly expiry reports to Crew Scheduling.
- Undertake other assigned duties as required by the department.
Safety and Leadership:
- Provide guidance and mentorship to new and existing pilots.
- Participate in recruitment and selection processes.
- Promote occupational health and safety initiatives within the department, and assist in safety training development and monitoring.
- Proactively communicate hazards and SMS initiatives to department personnel.
- Engage in employment equity initiatives, fostering a diverse and inclusive work environment.
- Promote continuous improvement in human rights and employment equity practices.
General Responsibilities:
- Actively identify and report hazards and deficiencies through the SMS program.
- Maintain clear communication with personnel to ensure smooth daily activities.
- Ensure regulatory and company standards are met.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of company processes and procedures.
- Execute duties safely, adhering to all relevant standards, policies, and processes.
Skills and Experience
- Possession of a Commercial Pilot License with prior experience at a 705 airline is essential.
- An Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL) is preferred.
- A post-secondary education in a related field is considered an asset.
- Previous supervisory or management experience is highly advantageous.
- Demonstrated superior interpersonal, listening, and problem-solving skills.
- Proven ability to perform effectively under pressure and within strict deadlines.
- The utmost integrity, discretion, confidentiality, and professionalism.
- Proven ability to build strong relationships and trust across all organizational levels.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- Strong proficiency in MS Office applications.
- Capacity to work flexible schedules and travel for extended periods as required.
- Must hold a current and valid passport or Canadian Permanent Resident card.
- Knowledge of the Inuktitut language is considered an asset.
- Preference will be given to Inuit Land Claims Beneficiaries.
