The Pilot in Command (PIC) at CTEH, a subsidiary of Montrose Environmental Inc. operates company aircraft in compliance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) rules and regulations along with company guidelines to ensure optimum safety, efficiency, and passenger comfort. The PIC will oversee the maintenance of all company-owned aircraft in a state of operational readiness. The PIC must be highly knowledgeable of the appropriate FARs, Airplane Flight Manuals, etc., and any other information pertinent to his/her duties. The PIC will supervise the Second in Command (SIC )and assign duties as required for the flight. The pilot must be available when scheduled on call with minimal notice for flights.

Vaccination against Covid-19 is strongly preferred. All employees will be subject to policies and procedures of the Company that may be dependent on vaccination status.

Pay Range: $83,000-$170,000 (commensurate with experience)

ACTIVITIES/TASKS/SCOPE

  • Immediate availability for extended travel and emergency response at client’s request.
  • Conducts the operation of the aircraft to the highest safety and security standards in compliance with procedures, regulations and policies of the company, the flight manual, FAA and TSA regulations, and other applicable regulations and directives.
  • Ensures the timely completion of flight-related records, including aircraft, engine, passenger data and trip papers.
  • Ensures that appropriate manuals and equipment are aboard the aircraft.
  • Coordinates with maintenance to ensure airworthiness and security of the aircraft and that service items and provisions are available.
  • Ensures that loading and routine service of the aircraft is accomplished in accordance with company and government procedures and regulations.
  • Ensures appropriate cleanliness and appearance of the aircraft are maintained.
  • Maintains current certificates and qualifications required for equipment used and keeps current on technical and regulatory developments pertinent to flight operations.
  • Performs pre-flight and post-flight aircraft inspections.
  • Maintains flight manual and navigation charts.
  • Performs administrative duties associated with the position; and,
  • Perform such other duties as assigned

OTHER DESIRED COMPETENCIES

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within a matrix reporting structure.
  • Excellent planning skills are needed to plan complicated air transportation, often to remote sites.
  • Possession of problem-solving skills of a broad range from dealing with operational problems to handling potential emergency situations, with the leadership skills to act as the officer in command.
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal directions; and,
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in the English language.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 5000 hours total flight time as PIC
  • Minimum 750 multi-engine flight-time hours
  • Detailed understanding of FAA Part 91 operations
  • Detailed knowledge of FAA regulations, Airman’s Information Manual , Air Traffic Control Procedures and aircraft systems

CERTIFICATION/OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Second Class FAA medical certificate with no restrictions
  • FAA Airline Transport Pilot certificate or commercial certificate with appropriate category and class ratings
  • FCC radiotelephone operator permit
  • Able to attend and complete required aircraft training events.
