Role Description
The KC-135 Instructor Pilot is responsible for providing high-level operational instruction in aircraft, classroom, and simulator environments. This role acts as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in curriculum development, training policy, and quality assurance. The successful candidate will facilitate specialized training, including Visual Threat Recognition Avoidance Training (VTRAT) and Crew Resource Management (CRM), while maintaining proficiency in essential KC-135 Aircrew Training Devices.
Key Responsibilities

Provide expert instruction on KC-135 pilot procedures in classroom, simulator, and flight environments.

Conduct training in VTRAT and CRM.

Serve as a Subject Matter Expert for curriculum development, lesson reviews, and training procedure updates.

Perform administrative duties including scheduling, student progress monitoring, record keeping, and safety/quality audits.

Diagnose student performance issues and implement effective remediation plans.

Maintain high standards of instrument, take-off, landing, and emergency procedure proficiency.

Perform physical tasks required for simulator operations, including climbing ladders, stooping, and bending.

Comply with all security and data protection policies; ensure proper handling of proprietary and government information.
Required Education and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution.

Minimum of eight years of total flying experience, including at least five years of military experience.

At least two years of KC-135 Pilot flight instructor and training management experience.

Recent experience as a KC-135 Instructor Pilot or Evaluator Pilot.

Completion of a formal USAF Instructor training course.

Strong facilitation and data analysis skills.

Eligibility for a DoD Personal Security Clearance.

U.S. Citizenship is required due to government contract mandates.
Additional Qualifications

Strong mathematical and reasoning skills, with the ability to interpret complex documentation and generate effective oral and written presentations.

Ability to work minimal supervision, work flexible shifts, and perform overtime as required.

Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.

Ability to perform in work environments involving electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical risks, as well as exposure to extreme heat and loud noise.
