Role Summary

CAE is seeking a highly skilled and experienced 707 Pilot Instructor to join its dedicated team. This critical position will initially commence as a part-time role, offering strong potential to transition into full-time employment based upon contract growth and operational necessity. The Instructor serves as a pivotal Subject Matter Expert (SME), responsible for delivering expert instruction on 707 aircraft variants, specifically including the E-3 Sentry, KC-135 Stratotanker, E-6 Mercury, and RC-135 Rivet Joint. This instruction covers complex aircraft systems and operational procedures across diverse training environments, encompassing aircraft, classroom, and high-fidelity flight simulator settings.

The Instructor is instrumental in developing robust training curricula, detailed study outlines, and comprehensive orientation materials. The role requires the consistent conduction of instructional sessions, proficiency checks, briefings, and follow-ups on flight simulators, strictly adhering to approved syllabi and company policies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The 707 Pilot Instructor is expected to successfully perform the following essential functions:

• Delivers comprehensive instruction on 707 Pilot procedures within aircraft, classroom, simulator, and practical training environments.
• Conducts specialized aviation training programs, including Crew Resource Management (CRM) and Advanced Instrument Concepts.
• Contributes actively as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the development of new training curricula and provides expert review of existing lessons and proposed modifications to optimize learning outcomes.
• Evaluates trainee progress meticulously and recommends qualification status or the necessity for additional specialized training.
• Reviews simulator design and assesses training effectiveness proactively to ensure maximum proficiency attainment by students.
• Manages and coordinates utilization schedules for training flight crews and necessary engineering support.
• Cultivates a positive, professional learning environment and actively encourages the adoption of new technologies and required tasks.
• Provides ground training for fellow crew members, offering precise diagnosis and effective remediation for student challenges.
• Manages extensive administrative duties, including scheduling, detailed record keeping, student progress monitoring, counseling, quality assurance, safety protocols, security procedures, and the rigorous maintenance of training programs and equipment.
• Ensures the safety of all attendees within the simulator environment and maintains comfort with simulator motion.
• Capable of conducting prolonged academic instruction sessions (up to six hours daily) in both simulator and classroom settings.
• Maintains a high level of technical proficiency in the operation of essential 707 Aircrew Training Devices and sustains proficiency in complex instrument, take-off, landing, and emergency procedures.
• Leverages extensive prior aircraft operating experience to establish credibility and effectively engage students, a fundamental requirement for specialized aviation instruction.

Qualifications and Experience Requirements

CAE seeks candidates who possess the following mandatory qualifications:

• Education: A Bachelor’s Degree obtained from an accredited institution of higher learning.
• Experience: A minimum of eight (8) years of total flying experience, including at least five (5) years of verifiable military aviation experience.
• Flight Hours: 1,500 or more flying hours in the 707-type aircraft mentioned (E-3, KC-135, E-6, RC-135, etc.).
• Instructional Background: Proven experience as an academic platform/training device (Simulator) instructor, and successful completion of a formal academic instructor course is required.
• Analytical Skills: Demonstrates strong facilitation, data analysis, language, mathematical, and reasoning skills. Must be proficient in reading, analyzing, and interpreting complex technical and procedural documents.
• Communication: Capable of responding effectively to sensitive inquiries and complaints, and generating impactful oral and written presentations on complex subjects.
• Autonomy: Capable of performing duties effectively with minimal supervision.
• Flexibility: Must be willing to work overtime, varying shifts, and on any day of the week as dictated by critical operational needs.
• Flight Eligibility: Must be eligible to participate in periodic aircraft familiarization flights.

Preferred Skills

• Prior experience with Qualitative Test Guides (QTG’s) and the FAA Simulator Certification and Qualification process and procedures is highly advantageous.

U.S. Citizenship Requirement: Due to U.S. Government contract requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for consideration for this role.

The incumbent must be eligible to obtain and maintain a DoD Personal Security Clearance. Work Environment and Physical Demands

The work environment primarily involves a standard office setting but includes potential exposure to specialized training device areas, which may involve electrical shock, moving mechanical parts, extreme heat, airborne particles, and significant noise levels. The role necessitates the ability to perform physical tasks such as walking, climbing stairs and ladders into simulators or aircraft cockpits; stooping, bending, and crawling. It requires sensory ability to detect odors or noises indicating potential equipment issues.
