Senior Flight Simulator Instructor & Aviation Training Specialist

Overview

This pivotal role is for an experienced and highly skilled aviation professional responsible for delivering comprehensive training primarily in flight simulators and/or aircraft. The successful candidate will conduct thorough and professional pre- and post-flight simulator briefings, ensuring strict adherence to CAE standards and all appropriate regulatory requirements. This position acts as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in curriculum and courseware development, significantly contributing to the organization's commitment to training excellence and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Training Delivery: Deliver high-quality training primarily in flight simulators and/or aircraft, in strict accordance with appropriate regulatory and customer requirements. Conduct engaging and thorough pre- and post-flight simulator briefings to maximize training benefit. Provide simulator instruction across one or multiple aircraft types, involving extended periods in the simulator for each session. Instruct classroom ground school sessions (e.g., Simfinity, CBT, IPT, Stand-up lecture), requiring periods of standing and/or sitting.
  • Curriculum & Courseware Development: Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the creation and refinement of training curricula and courseware. Support the development and certification of training curriculum and devices, including simulators, Flight Training Devices (FTDs), and Flight Management System (FMS) training aids.
  • Regulatory Compliance & Licensing: Ensure personal licenses, ratings, and Instructor Pilot (IP) currency are meticulously maintained, including medical fitness (if applicable), to perform assigned duties. Verify the validity of any Authority approval before conducting any training that requires the exercise of such privileges. Comply rigorously with ECFT/CAE policies and procedures at the operational level during all training functions, activities, and lesson plans. Adhere to regulations and procedures pertaining to Authority-approved programs as they apply to training functions, activities, or lesson plans.
  • Assessment & Feedback: Accurately note and record any deviations from required Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), procedures, or maneuvers, and discuss these with trainee pilots during de-briefings. Act as an invigilator when examinations are conducted. Review client(s) Training and Checking Authorization forms prior to conducting any training. Complete training records and recommend remedial training when necessary. Track personal instructional qualifications.
  • Operational Support: Perform Right Seat Support Duties as required. Prepare and inspect classroom facilities and equipment prior to the start of training sessions. Undertake other miscellaneous duties as assigned to support training operations.

Qualifications

  • A professional degree is typically required, complemented by a broad knowledge of several professional disciplines.
  • A minimum of 8 years of related experience in aviation training or a similar field is essential.
  • Recognized as a Subject Matter Expert within their discipline or a key contributor in complex/critical training environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct complex work important to the organization.
  • Ability to attain FAA/EASA ground school and simulator instructor designations within approximately 12 months of employment.
  • Capability to obtain the qualifications required to serve as an examiner and perform examiner duties under the relevant authority on the assigned aircraft fleet.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and instructional skills are required to deliver maximum training benefit.
  • Strong commitment to compliance, professionalism, and safety standards.
