Summary

The C-130 Pilot Instructor is responsible for planning, organizing, and providing instruction on legacy and advanced avionics for C-130/L-382 aircraft in simulator, classroom, and practical environments. Instruction includes flight and performance manual subjects, flight rules, Crew Resource Management, and Night Vision Imaging Systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Provides C-130/L-382 instruction covering flight and performance manual subjects.
• Delivers instruction on flight rules, crew resource management, and night vision systems.
• Ensures all instruction is conducted with safety as the paramount priority.
• Develops curriculum, syllabi, lesson plans, and courseware.
• Generates post-training evaluation reports.
• Directs, coordinates, and leads all aircrew activity during simulator training sessions.
• Operates the simulator Instructor Operator Station (IOS) during training sessions.
• Maintains current knowledge through training courses and self-study.
• Holds credibility and maintains the attention of customer attendees.
• Displays excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Clearly expresses procedures, physical processes, and concepts to domestic and international customers.
• Possesses necessary math skills for aviation mission planning/execution, including flight plans, fuel consumption, and performance calculations.
• Demonstrates sufficient intellectual and personal skills to evaluate and, when necessary, re-direct students.
• Maintains proficiency with Microsoft Office software.
• Works a flexible schedule.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

• Minimum of seven years of experience as a pilot.
• Minimum of three years of experience as a C-130/L-382 Aircraft Pilot Instructor.
• Minimum of 2500 hours of flight time as a C-130/L-382 Pilot.
• Minimum 4-year college degree or recognized equivalent.
• Previous experience in curriculum development.
• Ability to hold credibility and the attention of customer attendees.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to clearly express procedures, physical processes, and concepts to domestic and international customers.
• Possesses necessary math skills for aviation flight plans and fuel consumption calculations.
• Demonstrates sufficient intellectual and personal skills to evaluate and, when necessary, re-direct attendees.
• Detail-oriented.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office software.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule.

Preferred Skills

• Night Vision Goggle (NVG) experience.
• Airdrop experience.
• Bi-lingual (English and Spanish).

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

The candidate must be able to provide US military or civil airline records of prior flight and/or simulator time.

Work Environment

This role operates in office, classroom, and simulator environments and routinely uses standard office equipment.

Physical Demands

The physical demands are representative of those required to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. The employee must have the ability to:

• Undertake foreign travel for extended assignments.
• Stand and conduct academic instruction in classrooms, simulators, or other platforms for up to eight hours each day.
• Hear and tolerate simulator vibration and acoustic environments.
• Climb stairs to enter and exit the simulator.
• Sit in a normal instructional aircraft chair, lift hands above head, and reach controls as necessary.
