Summary

CAE is seeking resumes for experienced Rotary Wing Instructor Pilots to train new student pilots enrolled in the United States Air Force Air Education and Training Command's Introductory Flight Training – Rotary (IFT-R) program.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Rotary Wing Instructor Pilot will perform duties including:

• Conducting contact flight training and instrument familiarization in support of the USAF IFT-R program.
• Participating in a full standardization and training program for the USAF program at the CAE Dothan Training Center, in coordination with the Chief Pilot, Director of Quality Assurance, Standardization, and the USAF.
• Ensuring compliance with applicable standards, including USAF and FAR.
• Participating in the Quality Management System, quality procedures, and safety programs.
• Staying current with changes and modifications to external standards.
• Identifying and implementing strategies for compliance.
• Assisting with program standardization, evaluation, maintenance of tracking databases, deficiency follow-up, and reporting.
• Coordinating examiner activities to ensure adequate support is provided across the program.
• Interfacing with program members, the customer, and CAE USA staff to proactively identify and address quality assurance issues and ensure all requirements are met.
• Collaborating with various departments and management to identify and execute process improvement opportunities.
• Conducting business in strict compliance with corporate policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.
• Presenting metrics to measure process performance and the impact of improvement initiatives.
• Performing other assigned duties, such as Safety of Flight Officer responsibilities.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

Candidates must meet the following qualifications:

• Possess a current FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate, Helicopter, with an Instrument Helicopter Rating.
• Hold a current FAA Certificated Flight Instructor Helicopter (CFI-H) certificate, with Instrument Helicopter Instructor Rating.
• Total Flight Time: Minimum 1,000 hours (creditable as pilot-in-command or second in command per FAR 61.51, or PC/PI per AR 95-1).
• Turbine Helicopter Time: Minimum 500 hours.
• Instrument Time (Hooded, Simulator, or Weather): Minimum 100 hours.
• Night Flying Time: Minimum 75 hours.
• Flight Instructor Time: Minimum 500 hours as a Helicopter Instructor Pilot.
• Experience teaching primary flight training and in a military initial flight training course, or FAA 14CFR Part 61 and/or Part 141 environments.
• Experience instructing students in instrument flight training.
• Possess and maintain a current FAA Class 2 Medical Certificate.
• Must be able to work overtime, any shift, or any day of the week as required.
• Highly motivated and self-directed.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen due to U.S. Government contract requirements.

Preferred Skills

• Associate of Science degree.
• Graduate of a U.S. DoD formal Rotary Wing Instructor Pilot training program.
• Prior experience as a U.S. Air Force Helicopter Instructor Pilot.
• Higher Total Flight Time: 2,500+ hours.
• Higher Helicopter Instructor Time: 1,000+ hours (any weight, category).
• Higher Helicopter Turbine Time: 1,500+ hours.

Security Responsibilities

The employee must comply with all company security and data protection/usage policies and procedures. Proper marking and handling of all information and materials are required. Information shall only be divulged to employees with a need-to-know and not outside the company without management approval. All government and proprietary information will be accessed and stored electronically on company-provided resources.

The incumbent must be eligible for a DoD Personal Security Clearance. Due to U.S. Government contract requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for this role.

Work Environment

This role operates in a professional classroom/office environment and involves exposure to outdoor conditions and temperatures during flight training. The role routinely uses standard office equipment.

Physical Demands

The employee must be able to meet the physical demands necessary to perform the essential functions of this job:

• Lift at least 40 pounds overhead.
• Walk and/or climb stairs and ladders into simulators or aircraft cockpits.
• Stoop, bend, and crawl on top of or under devices.
• Detect odors or hear noises/sounds to identify potential problems or flaws in equipment functioning.
