Aviation Instructor – C-130/L-382 Aircraft
CAE, a global leader in defense and security and civil aviation training, seeks a highly skilled and experienced Aviation Instructor to deliver exceptional training on legacy and advanced avionics for C-130/L-382 aircraft. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the highest levels of mission readiness for our military clients. This is a fixed-term, on-call position.
Role Summary:
The Aviation Instructor will plan, organize, and deliver comprehensive training in simulator, classroom, and practical environments. This encompasses instruction in flight and performance manual subjects, flight rules, crew resource management (CRM), and night vision imaging systems (NVIS). A core responsibility is the development and maintenance of up-to-date curriculum, syllabi, lesson plans, and courseware. The instructor will also generate post-training evaluation reports and maintain a current understanding of industry best practices through continuous professional development.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Deliver C-130/L-382 instruction encompassing flight and performance manuals.
- Provide instruction on flight rules, CRM, and NVIS.
- Prioritize safety in all instructional activities.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive training curriculum, syllabi, lesson plans, and courseware.
- Generate detailed post-training evaluation reports.
- Direct and coordinate all aircrew activities during simulator training sessions.
- Operate the simulator Instructor Operator Station (IOS) during training.
- Maintain current knowledge through training courses and self-study.
- Command the attention and credibility of trainees, effectively conveying information to diverse audiences.
- Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills, clearly articulating complex procedures and concepts.
- Maintain proficiency in aviation-related calculations (flight planning, fuel consumption, etc.).
- Evaluate trainee performance and provide constructive feedback and redirection as needed.
- Maintain proficiency with Microsoft Office software.
- Work a flexible schedule.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
- Minimum seven years' experience as a pilot and three years' experience as a C-130/L-382 Aircraft Pilot Instructor.
- Minimum 2500 hours of flight time as a C-130/L-382 pilot.
- Minimum four-year college degree or equivalent.
- Proven experience in curriculum development.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate complex technical information to diverse audiences.
- Proficient in aviation-related calculations and flight planning.
- Strong interpersonal and evaluation skills.
- Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Personal Security Clearance.
- Must be able to provide US military or civil airline records of prior flight and/or simulator time.
Preferred Skills:
- Night vision goggle (NVG) experience.
- Airdrop experience.
- Bilingual (English and Spanish).
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
This position involves work in office, classroom, and simulator environments. It requires the ability to conduct instruction for extended periods (up to eight hours daily), tolerate simulator vibration and acoustics, and perform physical tasks such as climbing stairs and reaching controls. International travel may be required.
