Instructor Pilot - AH-64D/E
Overview
CAE USA Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Instructor Pilot to provide advanced flight instruction for student pilots in the AH-64D/E Apache helicopter. This role is instrumental in developing the next generation of Army aviators, both domestic and international.
Responsibilities
The Instructor Pilot will be responsible for:
- Delivering comprehensive flight instruction in accordance with the Army Aircrew Training Manual.
- Providing performance evaluations for students during classroom, in-flight, and simulator training.
- Conducting pre-flight and in-flight briefings, as well as post-flight After Action Reviews.
- Administering end of stage check rides to assess student proficiency.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma required. Associate or Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
- Graduation from the U.S. Army AH-64D/E Instructor Pilot and Methods of Instruction course is mandatory.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as an aviator, with recent (within the last 12 months) flight experience in the AH-64D/E. Currency or refresher training may be provided as needed.
- Minimum of 1,000 flight hours in the AH-64D/E.
- Minimum of 250 hours of Instructor Pilot experience in the AH-64D/E.
- Proven proficiency in computer literacy, including using a personal computer, word processing, database input, accessing electronic publications, navigating the World Wide Web, and utilizing briefing/debriefing software.
- Ability to support periodic travel.
- Familiarity with the operations of a military flight training base.
- Demonstrated strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Additional Requirements
- Ability to work overtime as required.
- Willingness to work any shift or day of the week as needed.
- Must possess and maintain a current Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) second-class Medical Certificate throughout the duration of the contract, or an Army Class 2 Flight Duty Medical Exam (FDME) if a member of the National Guard or Reserves.
Skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to analyze and interpret complex aviation documents and technical diagrams.
- Proficiency in mathematical calculations, including figures, amounts, percentages, and graph interpretation.
- Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret student requirements and attitudes from verbal, non-verbal, and written communication.
Security
- Must comply with all company security and data protection/usage policies and procedures.
- Responsible for the proper marking and handling of all information and materials in any form.
- Must maintain confidentiality regarding company information and not divulge any information outside the company without management approval.
- All government and proprietary information will be accessed and stored electronically on company-provided resources.
- Must be eligible for DoD Personal Security Clearance.
Work Environment
- Regular office environment with communication via personal computer, telephone, and fax.
- Potential exposure to risk of electrical shock from moving mechanical parts driven by hydraulics under high pressure.
- Exposure to extreme heat, airborne particles, and loud noises consistent with an aviation facility, including flight line operations.
Physical Demands
- Ability to travel domestically as required.
- Ability to walk and/or climb stairs and ladders into a simulator or airplane cockpit.
- Ability to stoop, bend, and crawl on top or under training devices.
- Ability to detect odors or hear noises (bangs, etc.) to detect problems or flaws in the surrounding environment.
- Ability to distinguish colors.
