About the Role
CAE is seeking highly motivated and experienced Rotary Wing Instructor Pilots to join its team in support of the United States Air Force Air Education and Training Command's Introductory Flight Training - Rotary (IFT-R) program. This position, contingent upon contract award, offers a unique opportunity to train the next generation of US Air Force pilots.
Responsibilities
- Conduct contact and instrument flight training aligned with the USAF IFT-R program curriculum.
- Collaborate with CAE and USAF leadership to implement and maintain a comprehensive standardization and training program.
- Ensure adherence to all applicable aviation safety and quality standards, including those set forth by the USAF, Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR), and CAE's Quality Management System.
- Participate in program standardization, evaluation, data tracking, deficiency resolution, and reporting.
- Coordinate examiner activities and proactively address quality assurance issues to ensure the fulfillment of all requirements.
- Collaborate across departments to identify and implement process improvement initiatives.
- Maintain awareness of evolving industry standards and contribute to the development and execution of compliance strategies.
- Perform additional duties as assigned, which may include Safety of Flight Officer responsibilities.
Qualifications
- FAA Commercial Pilot certificate with a Helicopter Instrument rating.
- FAA Certified Flight Instructor - Helicopter, with an Instrument Helicopter Instructor rating (current).
- 1,000 hours total flight time, including 500 hours of turbine helicopter time, 100 hours of instrument time, and 75 hours of night flying time.
- 500 hours of flight instruction experience, including experience in primary and military initial flight training environments (USAF or FAA Part 61 and/or Part 141).
- Experience providing instrument flight training to students.
- Current FAA Class 2 medical certificate.
- U.S. citizenship (required for DoD Personal Security Clearance eligibility).
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate of Science degree.
- Graduation from a US DoD formal Rotary Wing Instructor Pilot training program.
- Prior experience as a US Air Force Helicopter Instructor Pilot.
- 2,500 hours total flight time, including 1,000 hours as a helicopter instructor and 1,500 hours of helicopter turbine time.
Work Environment
This position involves working in a professional classroom and office environment, with potential exposure to extreme weather conditions. The role also requires physical dexterity, including the ability to lift 40 pounds overhead, climb stairs and ladders, and maneuver within aircraft cockpits.
